Psalms 89:19-42

Chapter 89
19 Once You spoke in vision to Your godly ones, And said, 'I have given help to one who is mighty; I have exalted one chosen from the people. 20I have found My servant David; With My holy oil I have anointed him, 21With whom My hand will be established; My arm also will strengthen him. 22The enemy will not deceive him, Nor will the son of wickedness afflict him. 23But I will crush his adversaries before him, And strike those who hate him. 24My faithfulness and My favor will be with him, And in My name his horn will be exalted. 25I will also place his hand on the sea, And his right hand on the rivers. 26He will call to Me, ‘You are my Father, My God, and the rock of my salvation.’ 27I will also make him My firstborn, The highest of the kings of the earth. 28I will maintain My favor for him forever, And My covenant shall be confirmed to him. 29So I will establish his descendants forever, And his throne as the days of heaven. 30'If his sons abandon My Law And do not walk in My judgments, 31If they violate My statutes And do not keep My commandments, 32Then I will punish their wrongdoing with the rod, And their guilt with afflictions. 33But I will not withhold My favor from him, Nor deal falsely in My faithfulness. 34I will not violate My covenant, Nor will I alter the utterance of My lips. 35 Once I have sworn by My holiness; I will not lie to David. 36His descendants shall endure forever, And his throne as the sun before Me. 37It shall be established forever like the moon, And a witness in the sky is faithful.' Selah 38But You have rejected and refused, You have been full of wrath against Your anointed. 39You have repudiated the covenant of Your servant; You have profaned his crown in the dust. 40You have broken down all his walls; You have brought his strongholds to ruin. 41All who pass along the way plunder him; He has become a disgrace to his neighbors. 42You have exalted the right hand of his adversaries; You have made all his enemies rejoice.King James Version

19Then thou spakest in vision to thy holy one, and saidst, I have laid help upon one that is mighty; I have exalted one chosen out of the people. 20I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him: 21With whom my hand shall be established: mine arm also shall strengthen him. 22The enemy shall not exact upon him; nor the son of wickedness afflict him. 23And I will beat down his foes before his face, and plague them that hate him. 24But my faithfulness and my mercy shall be with him: and in my name shall his horn be exalted. 25I will set his hand also in the sea, and his right hand in the rivers. 26He shall cry unto me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation. 27Also I will make him my firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth. 28My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, and my covenant shall stand fast with him. 29His seed also will I make to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven. 30If his children forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments; 31If they break my statutes, and keep not my commandments; 32Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes. 33Nevertheless my lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail. 34My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips. 35Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David. 36His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before me. 37It shall be established for ever as the moon, and as a faithful witness in heaven. Selah.
38But thou hast cast off and abhorred, thou hast been wroth with thine anointed.
39Thou hast made void the covenant of thy servant: thou hast profaned his crown by casting it to the ground.
40Thou hast broken down all his hedges; thou hast brought his strong holds to ruin.
41All that pass by the way spoil him: he is a reproach to his neighbours.
42Thou hast set up the right hand of his adversaries; thou hast made all his enemies to rejoice.

19You once spoke in a vision to your faithful ones and said, "I have granted help to a warrior; I have exalted one chosen from the people. 20I have found David my servant; I have anointed him with my sacred oil. 21My hand will always be with him, and my arm will strengthen him. 22The enemy will not oppress him; the wicked will not afflict him. 23I will crush his foes before him and strike those who hate him. 24My faithfulness and love will be with him, and through my name his horn will be exalted. 25I will extend his power to the sea and his right hand to the rivers. 26He will call to me, 'You are my Father, my God, the rock of my salvation.' 27I will also make him my firstborn, greatest of the kings of the earth. 28I will always preserve my faithful love for him, and my covenant with him will endure. 29I will establish his line forever, his throne as long as heaven lasts. 30If his sons abandon my instruction and do not live by my ordinances, 31if they dishonor my statutes and do not keep my commands, 32then I will call their rebellion to account with the rod, their iniquity with blows. 33But I will not withdraw my faithful love from him or betray my faithfulness. 34I will not violate my covenant or change what my lips have said. 35Once and for all I have sworn an oath by my holiness; I will not lie to David. 36His offspring will continue forever, his throne like the sun before me,
37like the moon, established forever, a faithful witness in the sky." Selah
38But you have spurned and rejected him; you have become enraged with your anointed.
39You have repudiated the covenant with your servant; you have completely dishonored his crown.
40You have broken down all his walls; you have reduced his fortified cities to ruins.
41All who pass by plunder him; he has become an object of ridicule to his neighbors.
42You have lifted high the right hand of his foes; you have made all his enemies rejoice.

Chapter 89
19Long ago you spoke in a vision to your faithful people. You said, 'I have raised up a warrior. I have selected him from the common people to be king. 20I have found my servant David. I have anointed him with my holy oil. 21I will steady him with my hand; with my powerful arm I will make him strong. 22His enemies will not defeat him, nor will the wicked overpower him. 23I will beat down his adversaries before him and destroy those who hate him. 24My faithfulness and unfailing love will be with him, and by my authority he will grow in power. 25I will extend his rule over the sea, his dominion over the rivers. 26And he will call out to me, ‘You are my Father, my God, and the Rock of my salvation.’ 27I will make him my firstborn son, the mightiest king on earth. 28I will love him and be kind to him forever; my covenant with him will never end. 29I will preserve an heir for him; his throne will be as endless as the days of heaven. 30But if his descendants forsake my instructions and fail to obey my regulations, 31if they do not obey my decrees and fail to keep my commands, 32then I will punish their sin with the rod, and their disobedience with beating. 33But I will never stop loving him nor fail to keep my promise to him. 34No, I will not break my covenant; I will not take back a single word I said. 35I have sworn an oath to David, and in my holiness I cannot lie: 36His dynasty will go on forever; his kingdom will endure as the sun.
38But now you have rejected him and cast him off. You are angry with your anointed king.
39You have renounced your covenant with him; you have thrown his crown in the dust.
40You have broken down the walls protecting him and ruined every fort defending him.
41Everyone who comes along has robbed him, and he has become a joke to his neighbors.
42You have strengthened his enemies and made them all rejoice.

19Once you spoke in a vision, to your faithful people you said: 'I have bestowed strength on a warrior; I have raised up a young man from among the people. 20I have found David my servant; with my sacred oil I have anointed him. 21My hand will sustain him; surely my arm will strengthen him. 22The enemy will not get the better of him; the wicked will not oppress him. 23I will crush his foes before him and strike down his adversaries. 24My faithful love will be with him, and through my name his horn will be exalted. 25I will set his hand over the sea, his right hand over the rivers. 26He will call out to me, 'You are my Father, my God, the Rock my Savior.' 27And I will appoint him to be my firstborn, the most exalted of the kings of the earth. 28I will maintain my love to him forever, and my covenant with him will never fail.
29I will establish his line forever, his throne as long as the heavens endure.
30If his sons forsake my law and do not follow my statutes,
31if they violate my decrees and fail to keep my commands,
32I will punish their sin with the rod, their iniquity with flogging;
33but I will not take my love from him, nor will I ever betray my faithfulness.
34I will not violate my covenant or alter what my lips have uttered.
35Once for all, I have sworn by my holiness-- and I will not lie to David--
36that his line will continue forever and his throne endure before me like the sun;
37it will be established forever like the moon, the faithful witness in the sky.'
38But you have rejected, you have spurned, you have been very angry with your anointed one.
39You have renounced the covenant with your servant and have defiled his crown in the dust.
40You have broken through all his walls and reduced his strongholds to ruins.
41All who pass by have plundered him; he has become the scorn of his neighbors.
42You have exalted the right hand of his foes; you have made all his enemies rejoice.
