Psalm chapter 106
English Standard Version
1Praise the LORD! Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever! 2Who can utter the mighty deeds of the LORD, or declare all his praise? 3Blessed are they who observe justice, who do righteousness at all times! 4Remember me, O LORD, when you show favor to your people; help me when you save them, 5that I may look upon the prosperity of your chosen ones, that I may rejoice in the gladness of your nation, that I may glory with your inheritance. 6Both we and our fathers have sinned; we have committed iniquity; we have done wickedness. 7Our fathers, when they were in Egypt, did not consider your wondrous works; they did not remember the abundance of your steadfast love, but rebelled by the sea, at the Red Sea. 8Yet he saved them for his name’s sake, that he might make known his mighty power. 9He rebuked the Red Sea, and it became dry, and he led them through the deep as through a desert. 10So he saved them from the hand of the foe and redeemed them from the power of the enemy. 11And the waters covered their adversaries; not one of them was left. 12Then they believed his words; they sang his praise. 13But they soon forgot his works; they did not wait for his counsel. 14But they had a wanton craving in the wilderness, and put God to the test in the desert; 15he gave them what they asked, but sent a wasting disease among them. 16When men in the camp were jealous of Moses and Aaron, the holy one of the LORD, 17the earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram. 18Fire also broke out in their company; the flame burned up the wicked. 19They made a calf in Horeb and worshiped a metal image. 20They exchanged the glory of God for the image of an ox that eats grass. 21They forgot God, their Savior, who had done great things in Egypt, 22wondrous works in the land of Ham, and awesome deeds by the Red Sea. 23Therefore he said he would destroy them— had not Moses, his chosen one, stood in the breach before him, to turn away his wrath from destroying them. 24Then they despised the pleasant land, having no faith in his promise. 25They murmured in their tents, and did not obey the voice of the LORD. 26Therefore he raised his hand and swore to them that he would make them fall in the wilderness, 27and would make their offspring fall among the nations, scattering them among the lands. 28Then they yoked themselves to the Baal of Peor, and ate sacrifices offered to the dead; 29they provoked the LORD to anger with their deeds, and a plague broke out among them. 30Then Phinehas stood up and intervened, and the plague was stayed. 31And that was counted to him as righteousness from generation to generation forever. 32They angered him at the waters of Meribah, and it went ill with Moses on their account, 33for they made his spirit bitter, and he spoke rashly with his lips. 34They did not destroy the peoples, as the LORD commanded them, 35but they mixed with the nations and learned to do as they did. 36They served their idols, which became a snare to them. 37They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons; 38they poured out innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and the land was polluted with blood. 39Thus they became unclean by their acts, and played the whore in their deeds. 40Then the anger of the LORD was kindled against his people, and he abhorred his heritage; 41he gave them into the hand of the nations, so that those who hated them ruled over them. 42Their enemies oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their power. 43Many times he delivered them, but they were rebellious in their purposes and were brought low through their iniquity. 44Nevertheless, he looked upon their distress, when he heard their cry. 45For their sake he remembered his covenant, and relented according to the abundance of his steadfast love. 46He caused them to be pitied by all those who held them captive. 47Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in your praise. 48Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting! And let all the people say, “Amen!” Praise the LORD!
New International Version
1Praise the LORD. Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever. 2Who can proclaim the mighty acts of the LORD or fully declare his praise?
3Blessed are those who act justly, who always do what is right. 4Remember me, LORD, when you show favor to your people, come to my aid when you save them,
5that I may enjoy the prosperity of your chosen ones, that I may share in the joy of your nation and join your inheritance in giving praise. 6We have sinned, even as our ancestors did; we have done wrong and acted wickedly. 7When our ancestors were in Egypt, they gave no thought to your miracles; they did not remember your many kindnesses, and they rebelled by the sea, the Red Sea. 8Yet he saved them for his name's sake, to make his mighty power known. 9He rebuked the Red Sea, and it dried up; he led them through the depths as through a desert. 10He saved them from the hand of the foe; from the hand of the enemy he redeemed them. 11The waters covered their adversaries; not one of them survived.
12Then they believed his promises and sang his praise. 13But they soon forgot what he had done and did not wait for his plan to unfold. 14In the desert they gave in to their craving; in the wilderness they put God to the test.
15So he gave them what they asked for, but sent a wasting disease among them. 16In the camp they grew envious of Moses and of Aaron, who was consecrated to the LORD. 17The earth opened up and swallowed Dathan; it buried the company of Abiram. 18Fire blazed among their followers; a flame consumed the wicked. 19At Horeb they made a calf and worshiped an idol cast from metal. 20They exchanged their glorious God for an image of a bull, which eats grass. 21They forgot the God who saved them, who had done great things in Egypt, 22miracles in the land of Ham and awesome deeds by the Red Sea.
23So he said he would destroy them-- had not Moses, his chosen one, stood in the breach before him to keep his wrath from destroying them. 24Then they despised the pleasant land; they did not believe his promise. 25They grumbled in their tents and did not obey the LORD. 26So he swore to them with uplifted hand that he would make them fall in the wilderness,
27make their descendants fall among the nations and scatter them throughout the lands. 28They yoked themselves to the Baal of Peor and ate sacrifices offered to lifeless gods; 29they aroused the LORD's anger by their wicked deeds, and a plague broke out among them. 30But Phinehas stood up and intervened, and the plague was checked. 31This was credited to him as righteousness for endless generations to come. 32By the waters of Meribah they angered the LORD, and trouble came to Moses because of them;
33for they rebelled against the Spirit of God, and rash words came from Moses' lips. 34They did not destroy the peoples as the LORD had commanded them, 35but they mingled with the nations and adopted their customs. 36They worshiped their idols, which became a snare to them. 37They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to false gods. 38They shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and the land was desecrated by their blood.
39They defiled themselves by what they did; by their deeds they prostituted themselves. 40Therefore the LORD was angry with his people and abhorred his inheritance. 41He gave them into the hands of the nations, and their foes ruled over them. 42Their enemies oppressed them and subjected them to their power. 43Many times he delivered them, but they were bent on rebellion and they wasted away in their sin. 44Yet he took note of their distress when he heard their cry; 45for their sake he remembered his covenant and out of his great love he relented.

1Praise the LORD! Oh give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; For His mercy is everlasting. 2Who can speak of the mighty deeds of the LORD, Or can proclaim all His praise? 3How blessed are those who maintain justice, Who practice righteousness at all times! 4Remember me, LORD, in Your favor toward Your people. Visit me with Your salvation, 5So that I may see the prosperity of Your chosen ones, That I may rejoice in the joy of Your nation, That I may boast with Your inheritance. 6We have sinned like our fathers, We have gone astray, we have behaved wickedly. 7Our fathers in Egypt did not understand Your wonders; They did not remember Your abundant kindnesses, But rebelled by the sea, at the Red Sea. 8Nevertheless He saved them for the sake of His name, So that He might make His power known. 9So He rebuked the Red Sea and it dried up, And He led them through the mighty waters, as through the wilderness. 10So He saved them from the hand of one who hated them, And redeemed them from the hand of the enemy. 11The waters covered their adversaries; Not one of them was left. 12Then they believed His words; They sang His praise. 13They quickly forgot His works; They did not wait for His plan, 14But became lustfully greedy in the wilderness, And put God to the test in the desert. 15So He gave them their request, But sent a wasting disease among them. 16When they became envious of Moses in the camp, And of Aaron, the holy one of the LORD, 17The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, And engulfed the company of Abiram. 18And a fire blazed up in their company; The flame consumed the wicked. 19They made a calf in Horeb, And worshiped a cast metal image. 20So they exchanged their glory For the image of an ox that eats grass. 21They forgot God their Savior, Who had done great things in Egypt, 22Wonders in the land of Ham, And awesome things by the Red Sea. 23Therefore He said that He would destroy them, If Moses, His chosen one, had not stood in the gap before Him, To turn away His wrath from destroying them. 24Then they rejected the pleasant land; They did not believe His word, 25But grumbled in their tents; They did not listen to the voice of the LORD. 26Therefore He swore to them That He would have them fall in the wilderness, 27And that He would bring down their descendants among the nations, And scatter them in the lands. 28They also followed Baal-peor, And ate sacrifices offered to the dead. 29So they provoked Him to anger with their deeds, And a plague broke out among them. 30Then Phinehas stood up and intervened, And so the plague was brought to a halt. 31And it was credited to him as righteousness, To all generations forever. 32They also provoked Him to wrath at the waters of Meribah, So that it went badly for Moses on their account. 33Because they were rebellious against His Spirit, He spoke rashly with his lips. 34They did not destroy the peoples, As the LORD had commanded them, 35But they got involved with the nations And learned their practices, 36And served their idols, Which became a snare to them. 37They even sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons, 38And shed innocent blood, The blood of their sons and their daughters Whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; And the land was defiled with the blood. 39So they became unclean in their practices, And were unfaithful in their deeds. 40Therefore the anger of the LORD was kindled against His people, And He loathed His inheritance. 41So He handed them over to the nations, And those who hated them ruled over them. 42Their enemies also oppressed them, And they were subdued under their power. 43Many times He would rescue them; They, however, were rebellious in their plan, And they sank down into their guilt. 44Nevertheless He looked at their distress When He heard their cry; 45And He remembered His covenant for their sake, And relented according to the greatness of His mercy. 46He also made them objects of compassion In the presence of all their captors. 47Save us, LORD our God, And gather us from the nations, To give thanks to Your holy name And glory in Your praise. 48Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, From everlasting to everlasting. And all the people shall say, 'Amen.' Praise the LORD!

18Fire blazed throughout their assembly; flames consumed the wicked. 19At Horeb they made a calf and worshiped the cast metal image. 20They exchanged their glory for the image of a grass-eating ox. 21They forgot God their Savior, who did great things in Egypt, 22wondrous works in the land of Ham, awe-inspiring acts at the Red Sea.

39They defiled themselves by their actions and prostituted themselves by their deeds. 40Therefore the Lord's anger burned against his people, and he abhorred his own inheritance. 41He handed them over to the nations; those who hated them ruled over them. 42Their enemies oppressed them, and they were subdued under their power.
New Living Translation
1Praise the LORD! Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. 2Who can list the glorious miracles of the LORD? Who can ever praise him enough? 3There is joy for those who deal justly with others and always do what is right.
4Remember me, LORD, when you show favor to your people; come near and rescue me. 5Let me share in the prosperity of your chosen ones. Let me rejoice in the joy of your people; let me praise you with those who are your heritage.
6Like our ancestors, we have sinned. We have done wrong! We have acted wickedly! 7Our ancestors in Egypt were not impressed by the LORD's miraculous deeds. They soon forgot his many acts of kindness to them. Instead, they rebelled against him at the Red Sea. 8Even so, he saved them--to defend the honor of his name and to demonstrate his mighty power. 9He commanded the Red Sea to dry up. He led Israel across the sea as if it were a desert. 10So he rescued them from their enemies and redeemed them from their foes. 11Then the water returned and covered their enemies; not one of them survived. 12Then his people believed his promises. Then they sang his praise.
13Yet how quickly they forgot what he had done! They wouldn't wait for his counsel! 14In the wilderness their desires ran wild, testing God's patience in that dry wasteland. 15So he gave them what they asked for, but he sent a plague along with it. 16The people in the camp were jealous of Moses and envious of Aaron, the LORD's holy priest. 17Because of this, the earth opened up; it swallowed Dathan and buried Abiram and the other rebels. 18Fire fell upon their followers; a flame consumed the wicked.
19The people made a calf at Mount Sinai; they bowed before an image made of gold. 20They traded their glorious God for a statue of a grass-eating bull. 21They forgot God, their savior, who had done such great things in Egypt-- 22such wonderful things in the land of Ham, such awesome deeds at the Red Sea. 23So he declared he would destroy them. But Moses, his chosen one, stepped between the LORD and the people. He begged him to turn from his anger and not destroy them.
24The people refused to enter the pleasant land, for they wouldn't believe his promise to care for them. 25Instead, they grumbled in their tents and refused to obey the LORD. 26Therefore, he solemnly swore that he would kill them in the wilderness, 27that he would scatter their descendants among the nations, exiling them to distant lands.
28Then our ancestors joined in the worship of Baal at Peor; they even ate sacrifices offered to the dead! 29They angered the LORD with all these things, so a plague broke out among them. 30But Phinehas had the courage to intervene, and the plague was stopped. 31So he has been regarded as a righteous man ever since that time.
32At Meribah, too, they angered the LORD, causing Moses serious trouble. 33They made Moses angry, and he spoke foolishly.
34Israel failed to destroy the nations in the land, as the LORD had commanded them. 35Instead, they mingled among the pagans and adopted their evil customs. 36They worshiped their idols, which led to their downfall. 37They even sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons. 38They shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters. By sacrificing them to the idols of Canaan, they polluted the land with murder. 39They defiled themselves by their evil deeds, and their love of idols was adultery in the LORD's sight.
40That is why the LORD's anger burned against his people, and he abhorred his own special possession. 41He handed them over to pagan nations, and they were ruled by those who hated them. 42Their enemies crushed them and brought them under their cruel power. 43Again and again he rescued them, but they chose to rebel against him, and they were finally destroyed by their sin. 44Even so, he pitied them in their distress and listened to their cries. 45He remembered his covenant with them and relented because of his unfailing love. 46He even caused their captors to treat them with kindness.
King James Version
1Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. 2Who can utter the mighty acts of the LORD? who can shew forth all his praise? 3Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth righteousness at all times. 4Remember me, O LORD, with the favour that thou bearest unto thy people: O visit me with thy salvation; 5That I may see the good of thy chosen, that I may rejoice in the gladness of thy nation, that I may glory with thine inheritance.
6We have sinned with our fathers, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly. 7Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt; they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies; but provoked him at the sea, even at the Red sea. 8Nevertheless he saved them for his name's sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known. 9He rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up: so he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness. 10And he saved them from the hand of him that hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy. 11And the waters covered their enemies: there was not one of them left. 12Then believed they his words; they sang his praise.
13They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel: 14But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert. 15And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul. 16They envied Moses also in the camp, and Aaron the saint of the LORD. 17The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram. 18And a fire was kindled in their company; the flame burned up the wicked. 19They made a calf in Horeb, and worshipped the molten image. 20Thus they changed their glory into the similitude of an ox that eateth grass. 21They forgat God their saviour, which had done great things in Egypt; 22Wondrous works in the land of Ham, and terrible things by the Red sea. 23Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them. 24Yea, they despised the pleasant land, they believed not his word: 25But murmured in their tents, and hearkened not unto the voice of the LORD. 26Therefore he lifted up his hand against them, to overthrow them in the wilderness: 27To overthrow their seed also among the nations, and to scatter them in the lands. 28They joined themselves also unto Baalpeor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead. 29Thus they provoked him to anger with their inventions: and the plague brake in upon them. 30Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: and so the plague was stayed. 31And that was counted unto him for righteousness unto all generations for evermore. 32They angered him also at the waters of strife, so that it went ill with Moses for their sakes: 33Because they provoked his spirit, so that he spake unadvisedly with his lips.
34They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the LORD commanded them: 35But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works. 36And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them. 37Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils, 38And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood. 39Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions. 40Therefore was the wrath of the LORD kindled against his people, insomuch that he abhorred his own inheritance. 41And he gave them into the hand of the heathen; and they that hated them ruled over them. 42Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their hand. 43Many times did he deliver them; but they provoked him with their counsel, and were brought low for their iniquity. 44Nevertheless he regarded their affliction, when he heard their cry: 45And he remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his mercies. 46He made them also to be pitied of all those that carried them captives. 47Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among the heathen, to give thanks unto thy holy name, and to triumph in thy praise. 48Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting: and let all the people say, Amen. Praise ye the LORD.
