Chapter 1
1Blessed is the person who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers! 2But his delight is in the Law of the Lord, And on His Law he meditates day and night. 3He will be like a tree planted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season, And its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers. 4The wicked are not so, But they are like chaff which the wind blows away. 5Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. 6For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the wicked will perish.Chapter 2
1Why are the nations restless And the peoples plotting in vain? 2The kings of the earth take their stand And the rulers conspire together Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying, 3'Let’s tear their shackles apart And throw their ropes away from us!' 4He who sits in the heavens laughs, The Lord scoffs at them. 5Then He will speak to them in His anger And terrify them in His fury, saying, 6'But as for Me, I have installed My King Upon Zion, My holy mountain.' 7'I will announce the decree of the Lord: He said to Me, ‘You are My Son, Today I have fathered You. 8Ask it of Me, and I will certainly give the nations as Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth as Your possession. 9You shall break them with a rod of iron, You shall shatter them like earthenware.’?' 10Now then, you kings, use insight; Let yourselves be instructed, you judges of the earth. 11Serve the Lord with reverence And rejoice with trembling. 12 Kiss the Son, that He not be angry and you perish on the way, For His wrath may be kindled quickly. How blessed are all who take refuge in Him!Chapter 3
1 Lord, how my enemies have increased! Many are rising up against me. 2Many are saying of my soul, 'There is no salvation for him in God.' Selah 3But You, Lord, are a shield around me, My glory, and the One who lifts my head. 4I was crying out to the Lord with my voice, And He answered me from His holy mountain. Selah 5 I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the Lord sustains me. 6I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people Who have set themselves against me all around. 7Arise, Lord; save me, my God! For You have struck all my enemies on the cheek; You have shattered the teeth of the wicked. 8 Salvation belongs to the Lord; May Your blessing be upon Your people! SelahChapter 4
1 Answer me when I call, God of my righteousness! You have relieved me in my distress; Be gracious to me and hear my prayer. 2You sons of man, how long will my honor be treated as an insult? How long will you love what is worthless and strive for a lie? Selah 3But know that the Lord has set apart the godly person for Himself; The Lord hears when I call to Him. 4 Tremble, and do not sin; Meditate in your heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah 5Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, And trust in the Lord. 6Many are saying, 'Who will show us anything good?' Lift up the light of Your face upon us, Lord! 7You have put joy in my heart, More than when their grain and new wine are abundant. 8In peace I will both lie down and sleep, For You alone, Lord, have me dwell in safety.Chapter 5
1 Listen to my words, Lord, Consider my sighing. 2Listen to the sound of my cry for help, my King and my God, For to You I pray. 3In the morning, Lord, You will hear my voice; In the morning I will present my prayer to You and be on the watch. 4For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness; No evil can dwell with You. 5The boastful will not stand before Your eyes; You hate all who do injustice. 6You destroy those who speak lies; The Lord loathes the person of bloodshed and deceit. 7But as for me, by Your abundant graciousness I will enter Your house, At Your holy temple I will bow in reverence for You. 8Lord, lead me in Your righteousness because of my enemies; Make Your way straight before me. 9For there is nothing trustworthy in their mouth; Their inward part is destruction itself. Their throat is an open grave; They flatter with their tongue. 10Make them pay, God; Have them fall by their own schemes! Scatter them in the multitude of their wrongdoings, For they are rebellious against You. 11But rejoice, all who take refuge in You, Sing for joy forever! And may You shelter them, That those who love Your name may rejoice in You. 12For You bless the righteous person, Lord, You surround him with favor as with a shield.King James Version

Chapter 1
1How happy is the one who does not walk in the advice of the wicked or stand in the pathway with sinners or sit in the company of mockers! 2Instead, his delight is in the Lord’s instruction, and he meditates on it day and night.
3He is like a tree planted beside flowing streams that bears its fruit in its season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.
4The wicked are not like this; instead, they are like chaff that the wind blows away.
5Therefore the wicked will not stand up in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
6For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to ruin.
Chapter 2
1Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? 2The kings of the earth take their stand, and the rulers conspire together against the Lord and his Anointed One:
3"Let’s tear off their chains and throw their ropes off of us."
4The one enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord ridicules them.
5Then he speaks to them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath:
6"I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain."
7I will declare the Lord’s decree. He said to me, "You are my Son; today I have become your Father.
8Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance and the ends of the earth your possession.
9You will break them with an iron scepter; you will shatter them like pottery."
10So now, kings, be wise; receive instruction, you judges of the earth.
11Serve the Lord with reverential awe and rejoice with trembling.
12Pay homage to the Son or he will be angry and you will perish in your rebellion, for his anger may ignite at any moment. All who take refuge in him are happy.
2Many say about me, "There is no help for him in God." Selah
3But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts up my head.
4I cry aloud to the Lord, and he answers me from his holy mountain. Selah
5I lie down and sleep; I wake again because the Lord sustains me.
6I will not be afraid of thousands of people who have taken their stand against me on every side.
7Rise up, Lord! Save me, my God! You strike all my enemies on the cheek; you break the teeth of the wicked.
2How long, exalted ones, will my honor be insulted? How long will you love what is worthless and pursue a lie? Selah
3Know that the Lord has set apart the faithful for himself; the Lord will hear when I call to him.
6Many are asking, "Who can show us anything good?" Let the light of your face shine on us, Lord.
7You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and new wine abound.
8I will both lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, Lord, make me live in safety.
3In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I plead my case to you and watch expectantly.
4For you are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil cannot dwell with you.
5The boastful cannot stand in your sight; you hate all evildoers.
6You destroy those who tell lies; the Lord abhors violent and treacherous people.
7But I enter your house by the abundance of your faithful love; I bow down toward your holy temple in reverential awe of you.
8 Lord, lead me in your righteousness because of my adversaries; make your way straight before me.
9For there is nothing reliable in what they say; destruction is within them; their throat is an open grave; they flatter with their tongues.
10Punish them, God; let them fall by their own schemes. Drive them out because of their many crimes, for they rebel against you.
11But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them shout for joy forever. May you shelter them, and may those who love your name boast about you.
12For you, Lord, bless the righteous one; you surround him with favor like a shield.
New Living Translation
Chapter 1
1Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. 2But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. 3They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.
4But not the wicked! They are like worthless chaff, scattered by the wind.
5They will be condemned at the time of judgment. Sinners will have no place among the godly.
6For the Lord watches over the path of the godly, but the path of the wicked leads to destruction.
Chapter 2
1Why are the nations so angry? Why do they waste their time with futile plans? 2The kings of the earth prepare for battle; the rulers plot together against the Lord and against his anointed one. 3'Let us break their chains,' they cry, 'and free ourselves from slavery to God.'
4But the one who rules in heaven laughs. The Lord scoffs at them.
5Then in anger he rebukes them, terrifying them with his fierce fury.
6For the Lord declares, 'I have placed my chosen king on the throne in Jerusalem, on my holy mountain.'
7The king proclaims the Lord’s decree: 'The Lord said to me, ‘You are my son. Today I have become your Father.
8Only ask, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance, the whole earth as your possession.
9You will break them with an iron rod and smash them like clay pots.’'
10Now then, you kings, act wisely! Be warned, you rulers of the earth!
11Serve the Lord with reverent fear, and rejoice with trembling.
12Submit to God’s royal son, or he will become angry, and you will be destroyed in the midst of all your activities — for his anger flares up in an instant. But what joy for all who take refuge in him!
5I lay down and slept, yet I woke up in safety, for the Lord was watching over me.
6I am not afraid of ten thousand enemies who surround me on every side.
7Arise, O Lord! Rescue me, my God! Slap all my enemies in the face! Shatter the teeth of the wicked!
2How long will you people ruin my reputation? How long will you make groundless accusations? How long will you continue your lies? Interlude
3You can be sure of this: The Lord set apart the godly for himself. The Lord will answer when I call to him.
4Don’t sin by letting anger control you. Think about it overnight and remain silent. Interlude
5Offer sacrifices in the right spirit, and trust the Lord.
6Many people say, 'Who will show us better times?' Let your face smile on us, Lord.
7You have given me greater joy than those who have abundant harvests of grain and new wine.
8In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe.
Chapter 5
1O Lord, hear me as I pray; pay attention to my groaning. 2Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for I pray to no one but you. 3Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly.
4O God, you take no pleasure in wickedness; you cannot tolerate the sins of the wicked.
5Therefore, the proud may not stand in your presence, for you hate all who do evil.
6You will destroy those who tell lies. The Lord detests murderers and deceivers.
7Because of your unfailing love, I can enter your house; I will worship at your Temple with deepest awe.
8Lead me in the right path, O Lord, or my enemies will conquer me. Make your way plain for me to follow.
9My enemies cannot speak a truthful word. Their deepest desire is to destroy others. Their talk is foul, like the stench from an open grave. Their tongues are filled with flattery.
10O God, declare them guilty. Let them be caught in their own traps. Drive them away because of their many sins, for they have rebelled against you.

Chapter 4
1For the director of music. With stringed instruments. A psalm of David. Answer me when I call to you, my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; have mercy on me and hear my prayer. 2How long will you people turn my glory into shame? How long will you love delusions and seek false gods
3Know that the Lord has set apart his faithful servant for himself; the Lord hears when I call to him.
4Tremble and do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent.
5Offer the sacrifices of the righteous and trust in the Lord.

5The arrogant cannot stand in your presence. You hate all who do wrong;
6you destroy those who tell lies. The bloodthirsty and deceitful you, Lord, detest.
7But I, by your great love, can come into your house; in reverence I bow down toward your holy temple.
8Lead me, Lord, in your righteousness because of my enemies— make your way straight before me.
9Not a word from their mouth can be trusted; their heart is filled with malice. Their throat is an open grave; with their tongues they tell lies.
10Declare them guilty, O God! Let their intrigues be their downfall. Banish them for their many sins, for they have rebelled against you.
