Psalms 52-54
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 52
1Why do you boast in evil, you mighty man? The faithfulness of God endures all day long. 2Your tongue devises destruction, Like a sharp razor, you worker of deceit. 3You love evil more than good, Lies more than speaking what is right. Selah 4You love all words that devour, You deceitful tongue. 5 But God will break you down forever; He will snatch you up and tear you away from your tent, And uproot you from the land of the living. Selah 6The righteous will see and fear, And they will laugh at him, saying, 7'Behold, the man who would not make God his refuge, But trusted in the abundance of his riches And was strong in his evil desire.' 8But as for me, I am like a green olive tree in the house of God; I trust in the faithfulness of God forever and ever. 9I will praise You forever, because You have done it, And I will wait on Your name, for it is good, in the presence of Your godly ones.Chapter 53
1The fool has said in his heart, 'There is no God.' They are corrupt, and have committed abominable injustice; There is no one who does good. 2God has looked down from heaven upon the sons of mankind To see if there is anyone who understands, Who seeks after God. 3Every one of them has turned aside; together they have become corrupt; There is no one who does good, not even one. 4Have the workers of injustice no knowledge, Who eat up My people like they ate bread, And have not called upon God? 5They were in great fear there, where no fear had been; For God scattered the bones of him who encamped against you; You put them to shame, because God had rejected them. 6Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come from Zion! When God restores the fortunes of His people, Jacob shall rejoice, Israel shall be glad.Chapter 54
1Save me, God, by Your name, And vindicate me by Your power. 2Hear my prayer, God; Listen to the words of my mouth. 3For strangers have risen against me And violent men have sought my life; They have not set God before them. Selah 4Behold, God is my helper; The Lord is the sustainer of my soul. 5 He will pay back the evil to my enemies; Destroy them in Your faithfulness. 6 Willingly I will sacrifice to You; I will praise Your name, Lord, for it is good. 7For He has saved me from all trouble, And my eye has looked with satisfaction upon my enemies.King James Version

Chapter 52
1For the choir director. A Maskil of David. When Doeg the Edomite went and reported to Saul, telling him, "David went to Ahimelech’s house." Why boast about evil, you hero! God’s faithful love is constant. 2Like a sharpened razor, your tongue devises destruction, working treachery.
5This is why God will bring you down forever. He will take you, ripping you out of your tent; he will uproot you from the land of the living. Selah
6The righteous will see and fear, and they will derisively say about that hero,
7"Here is the man who would not make God his refuge, but trusted in the abundance of his riches, taking refuge in his destructive behavior."
8But I am like a flourishing olive tree in the house of God; I trust in God’s faithful love forever and ever.
9I will praise you forever for what you have done. In the presence of your faithful people, I will put my hope in your name, for it is good.
Chapter 53
1For the choir director: on Mahalath. A Maskil of David. The fool says in his heart, "There’s no God." They are corrupt, and they do vile deeds. There is no one who does good. 2God looks down from heaven on the human race to see if there is one who is wise, one who seeks God.
3All have turned away; all alike have become corrupt. There is no one who does good, not even one.
4Will evildoers never understand? They consume my people as they consume bread; they do not call on God.
5Then they will be filled with dread— dread like no other — because God will scatter the bones of those who besiege you. You will put them to shame, for God has rejected them.
6Oh, that Israel’s deliverance would come from Zion! When God restores the fortunes of his people, let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad.
Chapter 54
1For the choir director: with stringed instruments. A Maskil of David. When the Ziphites went and said to Saul, "Is David not hiding among us?" God, save me by your name, and vindicate me by your might! 2God, hear my prayer; listen to the words from my mouth.New Living Translation
Chapter 52
1 Why do you boast about your crimes, great warrior? Don’t you realize God’s justice continues forever? 2All day long you plot destruction. Your tongue cuts like a sharp razor; you’re an expert at telling lies.
6The righteous will see it and be amazed. They will laugh and say,
7'Look what happens to mighty warriors who do not trust in God. They trust their wealth instead and grow more and more bold in their wickedness.'
8But I am like an olive tree, thriving in the house of God. I will always trust in God’s unfailing love.
9I will praise you forever, O God, for what you have done. I will trust in your good name in the presence of your faithful people.
2God looks down from heaven on the entire human race; he looks to see if anyone is truly wise, if anyone seeks God.
3But no, all have turned away; all have become corrupt. No one does good, not a single one!
4Will those who do evil never learn? They eat up my people like bread and wouldn’t think of praying to God.
5Terror will grip them, terror like they have never known before. God will scatter the bones of your enemies. You will put them to shame, for God has rejected them.
Chapter 54
1 Come with great power, O God, and rescue me! Defend me with your might. 2Listen to my prayer, O God. Pay attention to my plea.English Standard Version

1Why do you boast of evil, O mighty man? The steadfast love of God endures all the day. 2Your tongue plots destruction, like a sharp razor, you worker of deceit. 3You love evil more than good, and lying more than speaking what is right. Selah 4You love all words that devour, O deceitful tongue. 5But God will break you down forever; he will snatch and tear you from your tent; he will uproot you from the land of the living. Selah 6The righteous shall see and fear, and shall laugh at him, saying, 7"See the man who would not make God his refuge, but trusted in the abundance of his riches and sought refuge in his own destruction!" 8But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God. I trust in the steadfast love of God forever and ever. 9I will thank you forever, because you have done it. I will wait for your name, for it is good, in the presence of the godly.Chapter 53
1 The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, doing abominable iniquity; there is none who does good. 2God looks down from heaven on the children of man to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God. 3They have all fallen away; together they have become corrupt; there is none who does good, not even one. 4Have those who work evil no knowledge, who eat up my people as they eat bread, and do not call upon God? 5There they are, in great terror, where there is no terror! For God scatters the bones of him who encamps against you; you put them to shame, for God has rejected them. 6Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When God restores the fortunes of his people, let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad.Chapter 54
1O God, save me by your name, and vindicate me by your might. 2O God, hear my prayer; give ear to the words of my mouth. 3 For strangers have risen against me; ruthless men seek my life; they do not set God before themselves. Selah 4Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life. 5He will return the evil to my enemies; in your faithfulness put an end to them. 6With a freewill offering I will sacrifice to you; I will give thanks to your name, O Lord, for it is good. 7For he has delivered me from every trouble, and my eye has looked in triumph on my enemies.New International Version
Chapter 52
1For the director of music. A maskil of David. When Doeg the Edomite had gone to Saul and told him: "David has gone to the house of Ahimelek." Why do you boast of evil, you mighty hero? Why do you boast all day long, you who are a disgrace in the eyes of God? 2You who practice deceit, your tongue plots destruction; it is like a sharpened razor. 3You love evil rather than good, falsehood rather than speaking the truth.
4You love every harmful word, you deceitful tongue!
5Surely God will bring you down to everlasting ruin: He will snatch you up and pluck you from your tent; he will uproot you from the land of the living.
6The righteous will see and fear; they will laugh at you, saying,
7"Here now is the man who did not make God his stronghold but trusted in his great wealth and grew strong by destroying others!"
8But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God’s unfailing love for ever and ever.
9For what you have done I will always praise you in the presence of your faithful people. And I will hope in your name, for your name is good.
