Chapter 81
3Blow the trumpet at the new moon, at the full moon, on our feast day. 4For it is a statute for Israel, a rule of the God of Jacob. 5He made it a decree in Joseph when he went out over the land of Egypt. I hear a language I had not known: 6"I relieved your shoulder of the burden; your hands were freed from the basket. 7In distress you called, and I delivered you; I answered you in the secret place of thunder; I tested you at the waters of Meribah. Selah 8 Hear, O my people, while I admonish you! O Israel, if you would but listen to me! 9There shall be no strange god among you; you shall not bow down to a foreign god.New International Version
Chapter 81
3Sound the ram’s horn at the New Moon, and when the moon is full, on the day of our festival; 4this is a decree for Israel, an ordinance of the God of Jacob.
5When God went out against Egypt, he established it as a statute for Joseph. I heard an unknown voice say:
6"I removed the burden from their shoulders; their hands were set free from the basket.
7In your distress you called and I rescued you, I answered you out of a thundercloud; I tested you at the waters of Meribah.
8Hear me, my people, and I will warn you— if you would only listen to me, Israel!
9You shall have no foreign god among you; you shall not worship any god other than me.
