Psalms 78:38-43
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 78
38But He, being compassionate, forgave their wrongdoing and did not destroy them; And often He restrained His anger And did not stir up all His wrath. 39So He remembered that they were only flesh, A wind that passes and does not return. 40How often they rebelled against Him in the wilderness And grieved Him in the desert! 41Again and again they tempted God, And pained the Holy One of Israel. 42They did not remember His power, The day when He redeemed them from the enemy, 43When He performed His signs in Egypt And His marvels in the field of Zoan,King James Version
Chapter 78
38But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath. 39For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again.
40How oft did they provoke him in the wilderness, and grieve him in the desert!
41Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.
42They remembered not his hand, nor the day when he delivered them from the enemy.
43How he had wrought his signs in Egypt, and his wonders in the field of Zoan:
Christian Standard Bible
39He remembered that they were only flesh, a wind that passes and does not return.
40How often they rebelled against him in the wilderness and grieved him in the desert.
41They constantly tested God and provoked the Holy One of Israel.
42They did not remember his power shown on the day he redeemed them from the foe,
43when he performed his miraculous signs in Egypt and his wonders in the territory of Zoan.
New Living Translation
Chapter 78
38Yet he was merciful and forgave their sins and did not destroy them all. Many times he held back his anger and did not unleash his fury! 39For he remembered that they were merely mortal, gone like a breath of wind that never returns.
40Oh, how often they rebelled against him in the wilderness and grieved his heart in that dry wasteland.
41Again and again they tested God’s patience and provoked the Holy One of Israel.
42They did not remember his power and how he rescued them from their enemies.
43They did not remember his miraculous signs in Egypt, his wonders on the plain of Zoan.
English Standard Version
Chapter 78
38Yet he, being compassionate, atoned for their iniquity and did not destroy them; he restrained his anger often and did not stir up all his wrath. 39He remembered that they were but flesh, a wind that passes and comes not again. 40How often they rebelled against him in the wilderness and grieved him in the desert! 41They tested God again and again and provoked the Holy One of Israel. 42They did not remember his power or the day when he redeemed them from the foe, 43when he performed his signs in Egypt and his marvels in the fields of Zoan.New International Version
39He remembered that they were but flesh, a passing breeze that does not return.
40How often they rebelled against him in the wilderness and grieved him in the wasteland!
41Again and again they put God to the test; they vexed the Holy One of Israel.
42They did not remember his power-- the day he redeemed them from the oppressor,
43the day he displayed his signs in Egypt, his wonders in the region of Zoan.
