1Contend, Lord, with those who contend with me; Fight against those who fight against me. 2Take hold of buckler and shield And rise up as my help. 3Draw also the spear and the battle-axe to meet those who pursue me; Say to my soul, 'I am your salvation.'

1Psalm of David. Plead my cause, O Lord, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me.
2Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for mine help.
