Psalms 144:2-10
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 144
2My faithfulness and my fortress, My stronghold and my savior, My shield and He in whom I take refuge, Who subdues my people under me. 3Lord, what is man, that You look after him? Or a son of man, that You think of him? 4Man is like the breath; His days are like a passing shadow. 5Bend down Your heavens, Lord, and come down; Touch the mountains, that they may smoke. 6Flash forth lightning and scatter them; Send out Your arrows and confuse them. 7Reach out with Your hand from on high; Rescue me and save me from great waters, From the hand of foreigners 8Whose mouths speak deceit, And whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood. 9God, I will sing a new song to You; On a harp of ten strings I will sing praises to You, 10Who gives salvation to kings, Who rescues His servant David from the evil sword.King James Version
Chapter 144
2My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me. 3LORD, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him! or the son of man, that thou makest account of him! 4Man is like to vanity: his days are as a shadow that passeth away. 5Bow thy heavens, O LORD, and come down: touch the mountains, and they shall smoke. 6Cast forth lightning, and scatter them: shoot out thine arrows, and destroy them. 7Send thine hand from above; rid me, and deliver me out of great waters, from the hand of strange children; 8Whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood.Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 144
2He is my faithful love and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer. He is my shield, and I take refuge in him; he subdues my people under me. 3Lord, what is a human that you care for him, a son of man that you think of him?
4A human is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow.
5Lord, part your heavens and come down. Touch the mountains, and they will smoke.
6Flash your lightning and scatter the foe; shoot your arrows and rout them.
7Reach down from on high; rescue me from deep water, and set me free from the grasp of foreigners
New Living Translation
3O Lord, what are human beings that you should notice them, mere mortals that you should think about them?
4For they are like a breath of air; their days are like a passing shadow.
5Open the heavens, Lord, and come down. Touch the mountains so they billow smoke.
6Hurl your lightning bolts and scatter your enemies! Shoot your arrows and confuse them!
7Reach down from heaven and rescue me; rescue me from deep waters, from the power of my enemies.
8Their mouths are full of lies; they swear to tell the truth, but they lie instead.

Touch the mountains so that they smoke! 6Flash forth the lightning and scatter them; send out your arrows and rout them! 7Stretch out your hand from on high; rescue me and deliver me from the many waters, from the hand of foreigners, 8whose mouths speak lies and whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood. 9I will sing a new song to you, O God; upon a ten-stringed harp I will play to you, 10who gives victory to kings, who rescues David his servant from the cruel sword.New International Version
