Chapter 144

2My faithfulness and my fortress, My stronghold and my savior, My shield and He in whom I take refuge, Who subdues my people under me. 3Lord, what is man, that You look after him? Or a son of man, that You think of him? 4Man is like the breath; His days are like a passing shadow. 5Bend down Your heavens, Lord, and come down; Touch the mountains, that they may smoke. 6Flash forth lightning and scatter them; Send out Your arrows and confuse them. 7Reach out with Your hand from on high; Rescue me and save me from great waters, From the hand of foreigners 8Whose mouths speak deceit, And whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood. 9God, I will sing a new song to You; On a harp of ten strings I will sing praises to You, 10Who gives salvation to kings, Who rescues His servant David from the evil sword. 11Rescue me and save me from the hand of foreigners, Whose mouth speaks deceit And whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood. 12When our sons in their youth are like growing plants, And our daughters like corner pillars fashioned for a palace,

Chapter 144

2My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.
3Lord, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him! or the son of man, that thou makest account of him!
4Man is like to vanity: his days are as a shadow that passeth away.
5Bow thy heavens, O Lord, and come down: touch the mountains, and they shall smoke.
6Cast forth lightning, and scatter them: shoot out thine arrows, and destroy them.
7Send thine hand from above; rid me, and deliver me out of great waters, from the hand of strange children;
8Whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood.
9I will sing a new song unto thee, O God: upon a psaltery and an instrument of ten strings will I sing praises unto thee.
10It is he that giveth salvation unto kings: who delivereth David his servant from the hurtful sword.
11Rid me, and deliver me from the hand of strange children, whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood:
12That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace:

2He is my loving ally and my fortress, my tower of safety, my rescuer. He is my shield, and I take refuge in him. He makes the nations submit to me.
3O Lord, what are human beings that you should notice them, mere mortals that you should think about them? 4For they are like a breath of air; their days are like a passing shadow.
5Open the heavens, Lord, and come down. Touch the mountains so they billow smoke. 6Hurl your lightning bolts and scatter your enemies! Shoot your arrows and confuse them! 7Reach down from heaven and rescue me; rescue me from deep waters, from the power of my enemies. 8Their mouths are full of lies; they swear to tell the truth, but they lie instead.
9I will sing a new song to you, O God! I will sing your praises with a ten-stringed harp. 10For you grant victory to kings! You rescued your servant David from the fatal sword. 11Save me! Rescue me from the power of my enemies. Their mouths are full of lies; they swear to tell the truth, but they lie instead.
12May our sons flourish in their youth like well-nurtured plants. May our daughters be like graceful pillars, carved to beautify a palace.
