Psalms 118:9-29

New American Standard Bible

Chapter 118

9It is better to take refuge in the Lord Than to trust in noblemen. 10All nations surrounded me; In the name of the Lord I will certainly fend them off. 11They surrounded me, yes, they surrounded me; In the name of the Lord I will certainly fend them off. 12They surrounded me like bees; They were extinguished like a fire of thorn bushes; In the name of the Lord I will certainly fend them off. 13You pushed me violently so that I was falling, But the Lord helped me. 14 The Lord is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation. 15The sound of joyful shouting and salvation is in the tents of the righteous; The right hand of the Lord performs valiantly. 16The right hand of the Lord is exalted; The right hand of the Lord performs valiantly. 17I will not die, but live, And tell of the works of the Lord. 18 The Lord has disciplined me severely, But He has not turned me over to death. 19Open the gates of righteousness to me; I will enter through them, I will give thanks to the Lord. 20This is the gate of the Lord; The righteous will enter through it. 21I will give thanks to You, for You have answered me, And You have become my salvation. 22A stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone. 23This came about from the Lord; It is marvelous in our eyes. 24This is the day which the Lord has made; Let’s rejoice and be glad in it. 25Please, O Lord, do save us; Please, O Lord, do send prosperity! 26Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord; We have blessed you from the house of the Lord. 27The Lord is God, and He has given us light; Bind the festival sacrifice to the horns of the altar with cords. 28You are my God, and I give thanks to You; You are my God, I exalt You. 29Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; For His mercy is everlasting.

Chapter 118

9It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in princes. 10All nations surrounded me; in the name of the LORD I cut them off! 11They surrounded me, surrounded me on every side; in the name of the LORD I cut them off! 12They surrounded me like bees; they went out like a fire among thorns; in the name of the LORD I cut them off! 13I was pushed hard, so that I was falling, but the LORD helped me. 14The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. 15Glad songs of salvation are in the tents of the righteous: “The right hand of the LORD does valiantly, 16the right hand of the LORD exalts, the right hand of the LORD does valiantly!” 17I shall not die, but I shall live, and recount the deeds of the LORD. 18The LORD has disciplined me severely, but he has not given me over to death. 19Open to me the gates of righteousness, that I may enter through them and give thanks to the LORD. 20This is the gate of the LORD; the righteous shall enter through it. 21I thank you that you have answered me and have become my salvation. 22The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. 23This is the LORD’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes. 24This is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. 25Save us, we pray, O LORD! O LORD, we pray, give us success! 26Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD! We bless you from the house of the LORD. 27The LORD is God, and he has made his light to shine upon us. Bind the festal sacrifice with cords, up to the horns of the altar! 28You are my God, and I will give thanks to you; you are my God; I will extol you. 29Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!

Chapter 118

9 It is better to trust in the Lord Than to put confidence in princes. 10All nations surrounded me, But in the name of the Lord I will destroy them. 11They surrounded me, Yes, they surrounded me; But in the name of the Lord I will destroy them. 12They surrounded me like bees; They were quenched like a fire of thorns; For in the name of the Lord I will destroy them. 13You pushed me violently, that I might fall, But the Lord helped me. 14 The Lord is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation. 15The voice of rejoicing and salvation Is in the tents of the righteous; The right hand of the Lord does valiantly. 16 The right hand of the Lord is exalted; The right hand of the Lord does valiantly. 17 I shall not die, but live, And declare the works of the Lord. 18The Lord has chastened me severely, But He has not given me over to death. 19 Open to me the gates of righteousness; I will go through them, And I will praise the Lord. 20 This is the gate of the Lord, Through which the righteous shall enter. 21I will praise You, For You have answered me, And have become my salvation. 22 The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone. 23This was the Lord’s doing; It is marvelous in our eyes. 24This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it. 25Save now, I pray, O Lord; O Lord, I pray, send now prosperity. 26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! We have blessed you from the house of the Lord. 27God is the Lord, And He has given us light; Bind the sacrifice with cords to the horns of the altar. 28You are my God, and I will praise You; You are my God, I will exalt You. 29Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.
