Psalms 107:12-30

New American Standard Bible

Chapter 107

12Therefore He humbled their heart with labor; They stumbled and there was no one to help. 13Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble; He saved them from their distresses. 14He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death And broke their bands apart. 15They shall give thanks to the Lord for His mercy, And for His wonders to the sons of mankind! 16For He has shattered gates of bronze And cut off bars of iron. 17Fools, because of their rebellious way, And because of their guilty deeds, were afflicted. 18Their souls loathed all kinds of food, And they came close to the gates of death. 19Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble; He saved them from their distresses. 20He sent His word and healed them, And saved them from their destruction. 21They shall give thanks to the Lord for His mercy, And for His wonders to the sons of mankind! 22They shall also offer sacrifices of thanksgiving, And tell of His works with joyful singing. 23Those who go down to the sea in ships, Who do business on great waters; 24They have seen the works of the Lord, And His wonders in the deep. 25For He spoke and raised a stormy wind, Which lifted the waves of the sea. 26They rose up to the heavens, they went down to the depths; Their soul melted away in their misery. 27They reeled and staggered like a drunken person, And were at their wits’ end. 28Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, And He brought them out of their distresses. 29He caused the storm to be still, So that the waves of the sea were hushed. 30Then they were glad because they were quiet, So He guided them to their desired harbor.

Chapter 107

12So he bowed their hearts down with hard labor; they fell down, with none to help. 13Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. 14He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and burst their bonds apart. 15Let them thank the LORD for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man! 16For he shatters the doors of bronze and cuts in two the bars of iron. 17Some were fools through their sinful ways, and because of their iniquities suffered affliction; 18they loathed any kind of food, and they drew near to the gates of death. 19Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. 20He sent out his word and healed them, and delivered them from their destruction. 21Let them thank the LORD for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man! 22And let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving, and tell of his deeds in songs of joy! 23Some went down to the sea in ships, doing business on the great waters; 24they saw the deeds of the LORD, his wondrous works in the deep. 25For he commanded and raised the stormy wind, which lifted up the waves of the sea. 26They mounted up to heaven; they went down to the depths; their courage melted away in their evil plight; 27they reeled and staggered like drunken men and were at their wits’ end. 28Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. 29He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed. 30Then they were glad that the waters were quiet, and he brought them to their desired haven.

Chapter 107

12Therefore He brought down their heart with labor; They fell down, and there was none to help. 13Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, And He saved them out of their distresses. 14 He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, And broke their chains in pieces. 15Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men! 16For He has broken the gates of bronze, And cut the bars of iron in two. 17Fools, because of their transgression, And because of their iniquities, were afflicted. 18 Their soul abhorred all manner of food, And they drew near to the gates of death. 19Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, And He saved them out of their distresses. 20 He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions. 21Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men! 22 Let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, And declare His works with rejoicing. 23Those who go down to the sea in ships, Who do business on great waters, 24They see the works of the Lord, And His wonders in the deep. 25For He commands and raises the stormy wind, Which lifts up the waves of the sea. 26They mount up to the heavens, They go down again to the depths; Their soul melts because of trouble. 27They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, And are at their wits’ end. 28Then they cry out to the Lord in their trouble, And He brings them out of their distresses. 29 He calms the storm, So that its waves are still. 30Then they are glad because they are quiet; So He guides them to their desired haven.
