Chapter 106
26Therefore He swore to them That He would have them fall in the wilderness, 27And that He would bring down their descendants among the nations, And scatter them in the lands. 28They also followed Baal-peor, And ate sacrifices offered to the dead. 29So they provoked Him to anger with their deeds, And a plague broke out among them. 30Then Phinehas stood up and intervened, And so the plague was brought to a halt. 31And it was credited to him as righteousness, To all generations forever. 32They also provoked Him to wrath at the waters of Meribah, So that it went badly for Moses on their account. 33Because they were rebellious against His Spirit, He spoke rashly with his lips. 34They did not destroy the peoples, As the Lord had commanded them, 35But they got involved with the nations And learned their practices, 36And served their idols, Which became a snare to them. 37They even sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons, 38And shed innocent blood, The blood of their sons and their daughters Whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; And the land was defiled with the blood. 39So they became unclean in their practices, And were unfaithful in their deeds. 40Therefore the anger of the Lord was kindled against His people, And He loathed His inheritance. 41So He handed them over to the nations, And those who hated them ruled over them.King James Version
Chapter 106
26Therefore he lifted up his hand against them, to overthrow them in the wilderness: 27To overthrow their seed also among the nations, and to scatter them in the lands. 28They joined themselves also unto Baalpeor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead. 29Thus they provoked him to anger with their inventions: and the plague brake in upon them. 30Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: and so the plague was stayed. 31And that was counted unto him for righteousness unto all generations for evermore. 32They angered him also at the waters of strife, so that it went ill with Moses for their sakes: 33Because they provoked his spirit, so that he spake unadvisedly with his lips.
34They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the LORD commanded them:
35But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works.
36And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them.
37Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils,
38And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.
39Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions.
40Therefore was the wrath of the LORD kindled against his people, insomuch that he abhorred his own inheritance.
41And he gave them into the hand of the heathen; and they that hated them ruled over them.

26So he raised his hand against them with an oath that he would make them fall in the desert
27and would disperse their descendants among the nations, scattering them throughout the lands.
28They aligned themselves with Baal of Peor and ate sacrifices offered to lifeless gods.
29They angered the Lord with their deeds, and a plague broke out against them.
30But Phinehas stood up and intervened, and the plague was stopped.
31It was credited to him as righteousness throughout all generations to come.
32They angered the Lord at the Waters of Meribah, and Moses suffered because of them,
33for they embittered his spirit, and he spoke rashly with his lips.
34They did not destroy the peoples as the Lord had commanded them
35but mingled with the nations and adopted their ways.
36They served their idols, which became a snare to them.
37They sacrificed their sons and daughters to demons.
38They shed innocent blood -- the blood of their sons and daughters whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; so the land became polluted with blood.

Chapter 106
26Therefore, he solemnly swore that he would kill them in the wilderness, 27that he would scatter their descendants among the nations, exiling them to distant lands.
28Then our ancestors joined in the worship of Baal at Peor; they even ate sacrifices offered to the dead!
29They angered the Lord with all these things, so a plague broke out among them.
30But Phinehas had the courage to intervene, and the plague was stopped.
31So he has been regarded as a righteous man ever since that time.
32At Meribah, too, they angered the Lord, causing Moses serious trouble.
33They made Moses angry, and he spoke foolishly.
34Israel failed to destroy the nations in the land, as the Lord had commanded them.
35Instead, they mingled among the pagans and adopted their evil customs.
36They worshiped their idols, which led to their downfall.
37They even sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons.
38They shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters. By sacrificing them to the idols of Canaan, they polluted the land with murder.
39They defiled themselves by their evil deeds, and their love of idols was adultery in the Lord’s sight.

27make their descendants fall among the nations and scatter them throughout the lands.
28They yoked themselves to the Baal of Peor and ate sacrifices offered to lifeless gods;
29they aroused the LORD's anger by their wicked deeds, and a plague broke out among them.
30But Phinehas stood up and intervened, and the plague was checked.
31This was credited to him as righteousness for endless generations to come.
32By the waters of Meribah they angered the LORD, and trouble came to Moses because of them;
33for they rebelled against the Spirit of God, and rash words came from Moses' lips.
34They did not destroy the peoples as the LORD had commanded them,
35but they mingled with the nations and adopted their customs.
36They worshiped their idols, which became a snare to them.
37They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to false gods.
38They shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and the land was desecrated by their blood.
