Psalms 105:9-32

New American Standard Bible

Chapter 105

9 The covenant which He made with Abraham, And His oath to Isaac. 10Then He confirmed it to Jacob as a statute, To Israel as an everlasting covenant, 11Saying, 'To you I will give the land of Canaan As the portion of your inheritance,' 12When they were only a few people in number, Very few, and strangers in it. 13And they wandered from nation to nation, From one kingdom to another people, 14He allowed no one to oppress them, And He rebuked kings for their sakes, saying, 15'Do not touch My anointed ones, And do not harm My prophets.' 16And He called for a famine upon the land; He broke the whole staff of bread. 17He sent a man before them, Joseph, who was sold as a slave. 18They forced his feet into shackles, He was put in irons; 19Until the time that his word came to pass, The word of the Lord refined him. 20The king sent and released him, The ruler of peoples, and set him free. 21He made him lord of his house, And ruler over all his possessions, 22To imprison his high officials at will, That he might teach his elders wisdom. 23Israel also came into Egypt; So Jacob lived in the land of Ham. 24And He made His people very fruitful, And made them stronger than their enemies. 25He turned their heart to hate His people, To deal cunningly with His servants. 26He sent His servant Moses, And Aaron, whom He had chosen. 27They performed His wondrous acts among them, And miracles in the land of Ham. 28He sent darkness and made it dark; And they did not rebel against His words. 29He turned their waters into blood, And caused their fish to die. 30Their land swarmed with frogs Even in the chambers of their kings. 31He spoke, and a swarm of flies And gnats invaded all their territory. 32He gave them hail for rain, And flaming fire in their land.

Chapter 105

9the covenant that he made with Abraham, his sworn promise to Isaac, 10which he confirmed to Jacob as a statute, to Israel as an everlasting covenant, 11saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan as your portion for an inheritance.” 12When they were few in number, of little account, and sojourners in it, 13wandering from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another people, 14he allowed no one to oppress them; he rebuked kings on their account, 15saying, “Touch not my anointed ones, do my prophets no harm!” 16When he summoned a famine on the land and broke all supply of bread, 17he had sent a man ahead of them, Joseph, who was sold as a slave. 18His feet were hurt with fetters; his neck was put in a collar of iron; 19until what he had said came to pass, the word of the LORD tested him. 20The king sent and released him; the ruler of the peoples set him free; 21he made him lord of his house and ruler of all his possessions, 22to bind his princes at his pleasure and to teach his elders wisdom. 23Then Israel came to Egypt; Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham. 24And the LORD made his people very fruitful and made them stronger than their foes. 25He turned their hearts to hate his people, to deal craftily with his servants. 26He sent Moses, his servant, and Aaron, whom he had chosen. 27They performed his signs among them and miracles in the land of Ham. 28He sent darkness, and made the land dark; they did not rebel against his words. 29He turned their waters into blood and caused their fish to die. 30Their land swarmed with frogs, even in the chambers of their kings. 31He spoke, and there came swarms of flies, and gnats throughout their country. 32He gave them hail for rain, and fiery lightning bolts through their land.

Chapter 105

9 The covenant which He made with Abraham, And His oath to Isaac, 10And confirmed it to Jacob for a statute, To Israel as an everlasting covenant, 11Saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan As the allotment of your inheritance,” 12 When they were few in number, Indeed very few, and strangers in it. 13When they went from one nation to another, From one kingdom to another people, 14 He permitted no one to do them wrong; Yes, He rebuked kings for their sakes, 15 Saying, “Do not touch My anointed ones, And do My prophets no harm.” 16Moreover He called for a famine in the land; He destroyed all the provision of bread. 17 He sent a man before them— Joseph— who was sold as a slave. 18 They hurt his feet with fetters, He was laid in irons. 19Until the time that his word came to pass, The word of the Lord tested him. 20 The king sent and released him, The ruler of the people let him go free. 21 He made him lord of his house, And ruler of all his possessions, 22To bind his princes at his pleasure, And teach his elders wisdom. 23 Israel also came into Egypt, And Jacob dwelt in the land of Ham. 24 He increased His people greatly, And made them stronger than their enemies. 25 He turned their heart to hate His people, To deal craftily with His servants. 26 He sent Moses His servant, And Aaron whom He had chosen. 27They performed His signs among them, And wonders in the land of Ham. 28He sent darkness, and made it dark; And they did not rebel against His word. 29 He turned their waters into blood, And killed their fish. 30 Their land abounded with frogs, Even in the chambers of their kings. 31 He spoke, and there came swarms of flies, And lice in all their territory. 32 He gave them hail for rain, And flaming fire in their land.
