Psalms 102:1-18
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 102
1 Hear my prayer, Lord! And let my cry for help come to You. 2Do not hide Your face from me on the day of my distress; Incline Your ear to me; On the day when I call answer me quickly. 3For my days have ended in smoke, And my bones have been scorched like a hearth. 4My heart has been struck like grass and has withered, Indeed, I forget to eat my bread. 5Because of the loudness of my groaning My bones cling to my flesh. 6I resemble a pelican of the wilderness; I have become like an owl of the ruins. 7I lie awake, I have become like a solitary bird on a housetop. 8My enemies have taunted me all day long; Those who deride me have used my name as a curse. 9For I have eaten ashes like bread, And mixed my drink with weeping 10Because of Your indignation and Your wrath; For You have lifted me up and thrown me away. 11My days are like a lengthened shadow, And I wither away like grass. 12But You, Lord, remain forever, And Your name remains to all generations. 13You will arise and have compassion on Zion; For it is time to be gracious to her, For the appointed time has come. 14Surely Your servants take pleasure in her stones, And feel pity for her dust. 15 So the nations will fear the name of the Lord, And all the kings of the earth, Your glory. 16For the Lord has built up Zion; He has appeared in His glory. 17He has turned His attention to the prayer of the destitute And has not despised their prayer. 18 This will be written for the generation to come, That a people yet to be created may praise the Lord:King James Version
Chapter 102
1{A Prayer of the afflicted, when he is overwhelmed, and poureth out his complaint before the LORD.} Hear my prayer, O LORD, and let my cry come unto thee. 2Hide not thy face from me in the day when I am in trouble; incline thine ear unto me: in the day when I call answer me speedily. 3For my days are consumed like smoke, and my bones are burned as an hearth. 4My heart is smitten, and withered like grass; so that I forget to eat my bread. 5By reason of the voice of my groaning my bones cleave to my skin. 6I am like a pelican of the wilderness: I am like an owl of the desert. 7I watch, and am as a sparrow alone upon the house top. 8Mine enemies reproach me all the day; and they that are mad against me are sworn against me. 9For I have eaten ashes like bread, and mingled my drink with weeping, 10Because of thine indignation and thy wrath: for thou hast lifted me up, and cast me down. 11My days are like a shadow that declineth; and I am withered like grass.
12But thou, O LORD, shalt endure for ever; and thy remembrance unto all generations.
13Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come.
14For thy servants take pleasure in her stones, and favour the dust thereof.
15So the heathen shall fear the name of the LORD, and all the kings of the earth thy glory.
16When the LORD shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory.
17He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer.
18This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the LORD.
Christian Standard Bible
2Do not hide your face from me in my day of trouble. Listen closely to me; answer me quickly when I call.
3For my days vanish like smoke, and my bones burn like a furnace.
4My heart is suffering, withered like grass; I even forget to eat my food.
5Because of the sound of my groaning, my flesh sticks to my bones.
6I am like an eagle owl, like a little owl among the ruins.
7I stay awake; I am like a solitary bird on a roof.
8My enemies taunt me all day long; they ridicule and use my name as a curse.
9I eat ashes like bread and mingle my drinks with tears
10because of your indignation and wrath; for you have picked me up and thrown me aside.
11My days are like a lengthening shadow, and I wither away like grass.
12But you, Lord, are enthroned forever; your fame endures to all generations.
13You will rise up and have compassion on Zion, for it is time to show favor to her -- the appointed time has come.
New Living Translation
Chapter 102
1Lord, hear my prayer! Listen to my plea! 2Don’t turn away from me in my time of distress. Bend down to listen, and answer me quickly when I call to you. 3For my days disappear like smoke, and my bones burn like red-hot coals. 4My heart is sick, withered like grass, and I have lost my appetite. 5Because of my groaning, I am reduced to skin and bones. 6I am like an owl in the desert, like a little owl in a far-off wilderness. 7I lie awake, lonely as a solitary bird on the roof. 8My enemies taunt me day after day. They mock and curse me. 9I eat ashes for food. My tears run down into my drink 10because of your anger and wrath. For you have picked me up and thrown me out. 11My life passes as swiftly as the evening shadows. I am withering away like grass.
12But you, O Lord, will sit on your throne forever. Your fame will endure to every generation.
13You will arise and have mercy on Jerusalem — and now is the time to pity her, now is the time you promised to help.
14For your people love every stone in her walls and cherish even the dust in her streets.
15Then the nations will tremble before the Lord. The kings of the earth will tremble before his glory.
16For the Lord will rebuild Jerusalem. He will appear in his glory.
17He will listen to the prayers of the destitute. He will not reject their pleas.

Chapter 102
1A Prayer of one afflicted, when he is faint and pours out his complaint before the LORD. Hear my prayer, O LORD; let my cry come to you! 2Do not hide your face from me in the day of my distress! Incline your ear to me; answer me speedily in the day when I call! 3For my days pass away like smoke, and my bones burn like a furnace. 4My heart is struck down like grass and has withered; I forget to eat my bread. 5Because of my loud groaning my bones cling to my flesh. 6I am like a desert owl of the wilderness, like an owl of the waste places; 7I lie awake; I am like a lonely sparrow on the housetop. 8All the day my enemies taunt me; those who deride me use my name for a curse. 9For I eat ashes like bread and mingle tears with my drink, 10because of your indignation and anger; for you have taken me up and thrown me down. 11My days are like an evening shadow; I wither away like grass. 12But you, O LORD, are enthroned forever; you are remembered throughout all generations. 13You will arise and have pity on Zion; it is the time to favor her; the appointed time has come. 14For your servants hold her stones dear and have pity on her dust. 15Nations will fear the name of the LORD, and all the kings of the earth will fear your glory. 16For the LORD builds up Zion; he appears in his glory; 17he regards the prayer of the destitute and does not despise their prayer. 18Let this be recorded for a generation to come, so that a people yet to be created may praise the LORD:New International Version
2Do not hide your face from me when I am in distress. Turn your ear to me; when I call, answer me quickly.
3For my days vanish like smoke; my bones burn like glowing embers.
4My heart is blighted and withered like grass; I forget to eat my food.
5In my distress I groan aloud and am reduced to skin and bones.
6I am like a desert owl, like an owl among the ruins.
7I lie awake; I have become like a bird alone on a roof.
8All day long my enemies taunt me; those who rail against me use my name as a curse.
9For I eat ashes as my food and mingle my drink with tears
10because of your great wrath, for you have taken me up and thrown me aside.
11My days are like the evening shadow; I wither away like grass.
12But you, LORD, sit enthroned forever; your renown endures through all generations.
13You will arise and have compassion on Zion, for it is time to show favor to her; the appointed time has come.
14For her stones are dear to your servants; her very dust moves them to pity.
15The nations will fear the name of the LORD, all the kings of the earth will revere your glory.
16For the LORD will rebuild Zion and appear in his glory.
