What does Isaiah 3:22 mean?
The Lord God, through Isaiah, continues a long list of clothing and jewelry worn by the Israelite women in Judah. The passage paints a picture of what these women must have looked like: rich and worldly. Some of their adornments were symbols of the false gods of the surrounding nations. Isaiah has described them as arrogant and constantly looking around with seductive eyes. Their outer appearance revealed their inner hearts.Next on Isaiah's list are these women's outer garments. Festal robes may have meant a change of clothes, which were a sign of wealth. Or it might mean clean, white robes used for special occasions. These women had fashions for every kind of weather and event in a time that the average person could not afford a wardrobe full of clothes.
