Chapter 18

22But when He said this, one of the officers, who was standing nearby, struck Jesus, saying, 'Is that the way You answer the high priest?' 23Jesus answered him, 'If I have spoken wrongly, testify of the wrong; but if rightly, why do you strike Me?'

22And when he had thus spoken, one of the officers which stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, Answerest thou the high priest so? 23Jesus answered him, If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil: but if well, why smitest thou me

22When he had said these things, one of the officials standing by slapped Jesus, saying, "Is this the way you answer the high priest?"
23"If I have spoken wrongly," Jesus answered him, "give evidence about the wrong; but if rightly, why do you hit me?"

23Jesus replied, 'If I said anything wrong, you must prove it. But if I’m speaking the truth, why are you beating me?'
