Chapter 24

9And Joab gave the number of the census of the people to the king: in Israel there were eight hundred thousand valiant men who drew the sword, and the men of Judah were five hundred thousand men.
10Now David’s heart troubled him after he had counted the people. So David said to the Lord, 'I have sinned greatly in what I have done. But now, Lord, please overlook the guilt of Your servant, for I have acted very foolishly.' 11When David got up in the morning, the word of the Lord came to Gad the prophet, David’s seer, saying, 12Go and speak to David, ‘This is what the Lord says: 'I am imposing upon you three choices; choose for yourself one of them, and I will do it to you.'?’?' 13So Gad came to David and told him, and said to him, 'Shall seven years of famine come to you in your land? Or will you flee for three months before your enemies while they pursue you? Or shall there be three days’ of plague in your land? Now consider and see what answer I shall return to Him who sent me.'

9And Joab gave up the sum of the number of the people unto the king: and there were in Israel eight hundred thousand valiant men that drew the sword; and the men of Judah were five hundred thousand men.
10And David's heart smote him after that he had numbered the people. And David said unto the Lord, I have sinned greatly in that I have done: and now, I beseech thee, O Lord, take away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.
11For when David was up in the morning, the word of the Lord came unto the prophet Gad, David's seer, saying, 12Go and say unto David, Thus saith the Lord, I offer thee three things; choose thee one of them, that I may do it unto thee.
13So Gad came to David, and told him, and said unto him, Shall seven years of famine come unto thee in thy land? or wilt thou flee three months before thine enemies, while they pursue thee? or that there be three days' pestilence in thy land? now advise, and see what answer I shall return to him that sent me.

9Joab gave the king the total of the registration of the troops. There were eight hundred thousand valiant armed men from Israel and five hundred thousand men from Judah.
10David’s conscience troubled him after he had taken a census of the troops. He said to the Lord, "I have sinned greatly in what I’ve done. Now, Lord, because I’ve been very foolish, please take away your servant’s guilt."
11When David got up in the morning, the word of the Lord had come to the prophet Gad, David’s seer: 12"Go and say to David, ‘This is what the Lord says: I am offering you three choices. Choose one of them, and I will do it to you.’"
13So Gad went to David, told him the choices, and asked him, "Do you want three years of famine to come on your land, to flee from your foes three months while they pursue you, or to have a plague in your land three days? Now, consider carefully what answer I should take back to the one who sent me."

Chapter 24

9Joab reported the number of people to the king. There were 800,000 capable warriors in Israel who could handle a sword, and 500,000 in Judah.
10But after he had taken the census, David’s conscience began to bother him. And he said to the Lord, 'I have sinned greatly by taking this census. Please forgive my guilt, Lord, for doing this foolish thing.'
11The next morning the word of the Lord came to the prophet Gad, who was David’s seer. This was the message: 12Go and say to David, ‘This is what the Lord says: I will give you three choices. Choose one of these punishments, and I will inflict it on you.’'
13So Gad came to David and asked him, 'Will you choose three years of famine throughout your land, three months of fleeing from your enemies, or three days of severe plague throughout your land? Think this over and decide what answer I should give the Lord who sent me.'

10David was conscience-stricken after he had counted the fighting men, and he said to the Lord, "I have sinned greatly in what I have done. Now, Lord, I beg you, take away the guilt of your servant. I have done a very foolish thing."
11Before David got up the next morning, the word of the Lord had come to Gad the prophet, David’s seer: 12"Go and tell David, ‘This is what the Lord says: I am giving you three options. Choose one of them for me to carry out against you.’ "
13So Gad went to David and said to him, "Shall there come on you three years of famine in your land? Or three months of fleeing from your enemies while they pursue you? Or three days of plague in your land? Now then, think it over and decide how I should answer the one who sent me."
