2 Samuel 24:19-25
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 24
19
Then David went up in accordance with the word of Gad, just as the
Lord
had commanded.
20
And Araunah looked down and saw the king and his servants crossing over toward him; so Araunah went out and bowed his face to the ground before the king.
21
Then Araunah said, 'Why has my lord the king come to his servant?' And David said, 'To buy the threshing floor from you, in order to build an altar to the
Lord
, so that the plague may be withdrawn from the people.'
22
Araunah then said to David, 'Let my lord the king take and offer up what is good in his sight. Look,
here are
the oxen for the burnt offering, the threshing sledges and the yokes of the oxen for the wood.
23
Everything, O king, Araunah gives to the king.' And Araunah said to the king, 'May the
Lord
your God be favorable to you.'
24
However, the king said to Araunah, 'No, but I will certainly buy
it
from you for a price; for I will not offer burnt offerings to the
Lord
my God that cost me nothing.' So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.
25
Then David built there an altar to the
Lord
, and he offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. And the
Lord
responded to prayer for the land, and the plague was withdrawn from Israel.
King James Version
Chapter 24
19
And David, according to the saying of Gad, went up as the
Lord
commanded.
20
And Araunah looked, and saw the king and his servants coming on toward him: and Araunah went out, and bowed himself before the king on his face upon the ground.
21
And Araunah said, Wherefore is my lord the king come to his servant? And David said, To buy the threshingfloor of thee, to build an altar unto the
Lord
, that the plague may be stayed from the people.
22
And Araunah said unto David, Let my lord the king take and offer up what seemeth good unto him: behold, here be oxen for burnt sacrifice, and threshing instruments and other instruments of the oxen for wood.
23
All these things did Araunah, as a king, give unto the king. And Araunah said unto the king, The
Lord
thy God accept thee.
24
And the king said unto Araunah, Nay; but I will surely buy it of thee at a price: neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the
Lord
my God of that which doth cost me nothing. So David bought the threshingfloor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.
25
And David built there an altar unto the
Lord
, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. So the
Lord
was intreated for the land, and the plague was stayed from Israel.

Chapter 24
19
David went up in obedience to Gad’s command, just as the
Lord
had commanded.
20
Araunah looked down and saw the king and his servants coming toward him, so he went out and paid homage to the king with his face to the ground.
21
Araunah said, "Why has my lord the king come to his servant?" David replied, "To buy the threshing floor from you in order to build an altar to the
Lord
, so the plague on the people may be halted."
22
Araunah said to David, "My lord the king may take whatever he wants and offer it. Here are the oxen for a burnt offering and the threshing sledges and ox yokes for the wood.
23
Your Majesty, Araunah gives everything here to the king." Then he said to the king, "May the
Lord
your God accept you."
24
The king answered Araunah, "No, I insist on buying it from you for a price, for I will not offer to the
Lord
my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing." David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for twenty ounces of silver.
25
He built an altar to the
Lord
there and offered burnt offerings and fellowship offerings. Then the
Lord
was receptive to prayer for the land, and the plague on Israel ended.
New Living Translation
Chapter 24
19
So David went up to do what the
Lord
had commanded him.
20
When Araunah saw the king and his men coming toward him, he came and bowed before the king with his face to the ground.
21
Why have you come, my lord the king?' Araunah asked. David replied, 'I have come to buy your threshing floor and to build an altar to the
Lord
there, so that he will stop the plague.'
22
Take it, my lord the king, and use it as you wish,' Araunah said to David. 'Here are oxen for the burnt offering, and you can use the threshing boards and ox yokes for wood to build a fire on the altar.
23
I will give it all to you, Your Majesty, and may the
Lord
your God accept your sacrifice.'
24
But the king replied to Araunah, 'No, I insist on buying it, for I will not present burnt offerings to the
Lord
my God that have cost me nothing.' So David paid him fifty pieces of silver for the threshing floor and the oxen.
25
David built an altar there to the
Lord
and sacrificed burnt offerings and peace offerings. And the
Lord
answered his prayer for the land, and the plague on Israel was stopped.
