Luke 2:8-14
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 2
8
In the same region there were
some
shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock at night.
9
And an angel of the Lord
suddenly
stood near them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened.
10
And
so
the angel said to them, 'Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people;
11
for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
12
And this
will be
a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.'
13
And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly army
of angels
praising God and saying,
14
'Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace among people with whom He is pleased.'
King James Version
Chapter 2
8
And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
9
And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
10
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
12
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
13
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
14
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
Christian Standard Bible

8
In the same region, shepherds were staying out in the fields and keeping watch at night over their flock.
9
Then an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.
10
But the angel said to them, "Don’t be afraid, for look, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people:
11
Today in the city of David a Savior was born for you, who is the Messiah, the Lord.
12
This will be the sign for you: You will find a baby wrapped tightly in cloth and lying in a manger."
13
Suddenly there was a multitude of the heavenly host with the angel, praising God and saying:
14
Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and peace on earth to people he favors!
New Living Translation
Chapter 2
8
That night there were shepherds staying in the fields nearby, guarding their flocks of sheep.
9
Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified,
10
but the angel reassured them. 'Don’t be afraid!' he said. 'I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people.
11
The Savior — yes, the Messiah, the Lord — has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David!
12
And you will recognize him by this sign: You will find a baby wrapped snugly in strips of cloth, lying in a manger.'
13
Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others — the armies of heaven — praising God and saying,
14
'Glory to God in highest heaven,
and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.'
English Standard Version
