And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.
27
And he came by the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to carry out for Him the custom of the Law,
28
then he took Him in his arms, and blessed God, and said,
29
'Now, Lord, You are letting Your bond-servant depart in peace,
According to Your word;
30
For my eyes have seen Your salvation,

And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ.

And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law,

Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said,

Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word:
30
For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,

Guided by the Spirit, he entered the temple. When the parents brought in the child Jesus to perform for him what was customary under the law,

Simeon took him up in his arms, praised God, and said,
29
Now, Master,
you can dismiss your servant in peace,
as you promised.
30
For my eyes have seen your salvation.

'Sovereign Lord, now let your servant die in peace,
as you have promised.
