John 19:2-9
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 19
2
And the soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and placed it on His head, and put a purple cloak on Him;
3
and they
repeatedly
came up to Him and said, 'Hail, King of the Jews!' and slapped Him in the face
again and again.
4
And
then
Pilate came out again and *said to them, 'See, I am bringing Him out to you so that you will know that I find no grounds at all for charges in His case.'
5
Jesus then came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe. And
Pilate
*said to them, 'Behold, the Man!'
6
So when the chief priests and the officers saw Him, they shouted, saying, 'Crucify, crucify!' Pilate *said to them, 'Take Him yourselves and crucify
Him;
for I find no grounds for charges in His case!'
7
The Jews answered him, 'We have a law, and by that law He ought to die, because He made Himself
out to be
the Son of God!'
8
Therefore when Pilate heard this statement, he was
even
more afraid;
9
and he entered the Praetorium again and *said to Jesus, 'Where are You from?' But Jesus gave him no answer.
King James Version
Chapter 19
2
And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe,
3
And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands.
4
Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him.
5
Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!
6
When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him.
7
The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.
8
When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he was the more afraid;
9
And went again into the judgment hall, and saith unto Jesus, Whence art thou? But Jesus gave him no answer.

Chapter 19
2
The soldiers also twisted together a crown of thorns, put it on his head, and clothed him in a purple robe.
3
And they kept coming up to him and saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!" and were slapping his face.
4
Pilate went outside again and said to them, "Look, I’m bringing him out to you to let you know I find no grounds for charging him."
5
Then Jesus came out wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe. Pilate said to them, "Here is the man!"
6
When the chief priests and the temple servants saw him, they shouted, "Crucify! Crucify!" Pilate responded, "Take him and crucify him yourselves, since I find no grounds for charging him."
7
"We have a law," the Jews replied to him, "and according to that law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God."
8
When Pilate heard this statement, he was more afraid than ever.
9
He went back into the headquarters and asked Jesus, "Where are you from?" But Jesus did not give him an answer.

6
When they saw him, the leading priests and Temple guards began shouting, 'Crucify him! Crucify him!' 'Take him yourselves and crucify him,' Pilate said. 'I find him not guilty.'

The Jewish leaders replied, 'By our law he ought to die because he called himself the Son of God.'
