John 19:10-12
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 19
10
So Pilate *said to Him, 'Are you not speaking to me? Do You not know that I have authority to release You, and I have authority to crucify You?'
11
Jesus answered him, 'You would have no authority over Me at all, if it had not been given to you from above; for this reason the one who handed Me over to you has
the
greater sin.'
12
As a result of this, Pilate made efforts to release Him; but the Jews shouted, saying, 'If you release this Man, you are not a friend of Caesar; everyone who makes himself
out to be
a king opposes Caesar!'
King James Version
Chapter 19
10
Then saith Pilate unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee?
11
Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.
12
And from thenceforth Pilate sought to release him: but the Jews cried out, saying, If thou let this man go, thou art not Caesar's friend: whosoever maketh himself a king speaketh against Caesar.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 19
10
So Pilate said to him, "Do you refuse to speak to me? Don’t you know that I have the authority to release you and the authority to crucify you?"
11
"You would have no authority over me at all," Jesus answered him, "if it hadn’t been given you from above. This is why the one who handed me over to you has the greater sin."
12
From that moment Pilate kept trying to release him. But the Jews shouted, "If you release this man, you are not Caesar’s friend. Anyone who makes himself a king opposes Caesar!"
New Living Translation
Chapter 19
10
Why don’t you talk to me?' Pilate demanded. 'Don’t you realize that I have the power to release you or crucify you?'
11
Then Jesus said, 'You would have no power over me at all unless it were given to you from above. So the one who handed me over to you has the greater sin.'
12
Then Pilate tried to release him, but the Jewish leaders shouted, 'If you release this man, you are no ‘friend of Caesar.’ Anyone who declares himself a king is a rebel against Caesar.'
English Standard Version

12
From then on Pilate sought to release him, but the Jews cried out, "If you release this man, you are not Caesar 's friend. Everyone who makes himself a king opposes Caesar."

Chapter 19
10
"Do you refuse to speak to me?" Pilate said. "Don’t you realize I have power either to free you or to crucify you?"
11
Jesus answered, "You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above. Therefore the one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin."
12
From then on, Pilate tried to set Jesus free, but the Jewish leaders kept shouting, "If you let this man go, you are no friend of Caesar. Anyone who claims to be a king opposes Caesar."
New King James Version
Chapter 19
