Then David’s anger burned greatly against the man, and he said to Nathan, 'As the

lives, the man who has done this certainly deserves to die!

And David's anger was greatly kindled against the man; and he said to Nathan,

the LORD liveth, the man that hath done this
thing
shall surely die:

And he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity.

David was infuriated with the man and said to Nathan, "As the Lord lives, the man who did this deserves to die!

Because he has done this thing and shown no pity, he must pay four lambs for that lamb."

David was furious. 'As surely as the
Lord
lives,' he vowed, 'any man who would do such a thing deserves to die!

He must repay four lambs to the poor man for the one he stole and for having no pity.'
