John 8:9-19
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 8
9
Now when they heard
this,
they
began
leaving, one by one, beginning with the older ones, and He was left alone, and the woman
where she
was, in the center
of the courtyard.
10
And straightening up, Jesus said to her, 'Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?'
11
She said, 'No one, Lord.' And Jesus said, 'I do not condemn you, either. Go. From now on do not sin any longer.']]
12
Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, 'I am the Light of the world; the one who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.'
13
So the Pharisees said to Him, 'You are testifying about Yourself; Your testimony is not true.'
14
Jesus answered and said to them, 'Even if I am testifying about Myself, My testimony is true, because I know where I came from and where I am going; but you do not know where I come from or where I am going.
15
You judge according to the flesh; I am not judging anyone.
16
But even if I do judge, My judgment is true; for I am not alone
in it,
but I and the Father who sent Me.
17
Even in your Law it has been written that the testimony of two people is true.
18
I am He who testifies about Myself, and the Father who sent Me testifies about Me.'
19
So they were saying to Him, 'Where is Your Father?' Jesus answered, 'You know neither Me nor My Father; if you knew Me, you would know My Father also.'
King James Version
Chapter 8
9
And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
10
When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers hath no man condemned thee
11
She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
12
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
13
The Pharisees therefore said unto him, Thou bearest record of thyself; thy record is not true.
14
Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go.
15
Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man.
16
And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.
17
It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true.
18
I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me.
19
Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also.

Chapter 8
9
When they heard this, they left one by one, starting with the older men. Only he was left, with the woman in the center.
10
When Jesus stood up, he said to her, "Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?"
11
"No one, Lord," she answered. "Neither do I condemn you," said Jesus. "Go, and from now on do not sin anymore."
12
Jesus spoke to them again: "I am the light of the world. Anyone who follows me will never walk in the darkness but will have the light of life."
13
So the Pharisees said to him, "You are testifying about yourself. Your testimony is not valid."
14
"Even if I testify about myself," Jesus replied, "My testimony is true, because I know where I came from and where I’m going. But you don’t know where I come from or where I’m going.
15
You judge by human standards. I judge no one.
16
And if I do judge, my judgment is true, because it is not I alone who judge, but I and the Father who sent me.
17
Even in your law it is written that the testimony of two witnesses is true.
18
I am the one who testifies about myself, and the Father who sent me testifies about me."
19
Then they asked him, "Where is your Father?" "You know neither me nor my Father," Jesus answered. "If you knew me, you would also know my Father."
New Living Translation
Chapter 8
9
When the accusers heard this, they slipped away one by one, beginning with the oldest, until only Jesus was left in the middle of the crowd with the woman.
10
Then Jesus stood up again and said to the woman, 'Where are your accusers? Didn’t even one of them condemn you?'
11
No, Lord,' she said. And Jesus said, 'Neither do I. Go and sin no more.'
12
Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, 'I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.'
13
The Pharisees replied, 'You are making those claims about yourself! Such testimony is not valid.'
14
Jesus told them, 'These claims are valid even though I make them about myself. For I know where I came from and where I am going, but you don’t know this about me.
15
You judge me by human standards, but I do not judge anyone.
16
And if I did, my judgment would be correct in every respect because I am not alone. The Father who sent me is with me.
17
Your own law says that if two people agree about something, their witness is accepted as fact.
18
I am one witness, and my Father who sent me is the other.'
19
Where is your father?' they asked. Jesus answered, 'Since you don’t know who I am, you don’t know who my Father is. If you knew me, you would also know my Father.'

But when they heard it, they went away one by one, beginning with the older ones, and Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before him.

11
She said, "No one, Lord." And Jesus said, "Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more."]]
12
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

Chapter 8
9
At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there.
10
Jesus straightened up and asked her, "Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?"
11
"No one, sir," she said. "Then neither do I condemn you," Jesus declared. "Go now and leave your life of sin."
12
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
13
The Pharisees challenged him, "Here you are, appearing as your own witness; your testimony is not valid."
14
Jesus answered, "Even if I testify on my own behalf, my testimony is valid, for I know where I came from and where I am going. But you have no idea where I come from or where I am going.
15
You judge by human standards; I pass judgment on no one.
16
But if I do judge, my decisions are true, because I am not alone. I stand with the Father, who sent me.
17
In your own Law it is written that the testimony of two witnesses is true.
18
I am one who testifies for myself; my other witness is the Father, who sent me."
19
Then they asked him, "Where is your father?" "You do not know me or my Father," Jesus replied. "If you knew me, you would know my Father also."
