Chapter 8

22So the Jews were saying, 'Surely He will not kill Himself, will He, since He says, ‘Where I am going, you cannot come’?' 23And He was saying to them, 'You are from below, I am from above; you are of this world, I am not of this world. 24Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am, you will die in your sins.' 25Then they were saying to Him, 'Who are You?' Jesus said to them, 'What have I even been saying to you from the beginning?

22Then said the Jews, Will he kill himself because he saith, Whither I go, ye cannot come. 23And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world. 24I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. 25Then said they unto him, Who art thou And Jesus saith unto them, Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning.

22So the Jews said again, "He won’t kill himself, will he, since he says, ‘Where I’m going, you cannot come’ ?"
23"You are from below," he told them, "I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. 24Therefore I told you that you will die in your sins. For if you do not believe that I am he, you will die in your sins."
25"Who are you?" they questioned. "Exactly what I’ve been telling you from the very beginning," Jesus told them.

22The people asked, 'Is he planning to commit suicide? What does he mean, ‘You cannot come where I am going’?'
23Jesus continued, 'You are from below; I am from above. You belong to this world; I do not. 24That is why I said that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I AM who I claim to be, you will die in your sins.'
25Who are you?' they demanded. Jesus replied, 'The one I have always claimed to be.
