12But Ahaz said, I will not ask, neither will I tempt the Lord.

Chapter 7
7This is what the Lord God says: It will not happen; it will not occur. 8The chief city of Aram is Damascus, the chief of Damascus is Rezin (within sixty-five years Ephraim will be too shattered to be a people), 9the chief city of Ephraim is Samaria, and the chief of Samaria is the son of Remaliah. If you do not stand firm in your faith, then you will not stand at all.New Living Translation
Chapter 7
7But this is what the Sovereign Lord says: 'This invasion will never happen; it will never take place; 8for Syria is no stronger than its capital, Damascus, and Damascus is no stronger than its king, Rezin. As for Israel, within sixty-five years it will be crushed and completely destroyed. 9Israel is no stronger than its capital, Samaria, and Samaria is no stronger than its king, Pekah son of Remaliah. Unless your faith is firm, I cannot make you stand firm.'English Standard Version
8For the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin. And within sixty-five years Ephraim will be shattered from being a people.
9And the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is the son of Remaliah. If you are not firm in faith, you will not be firm at all.’"
10Again the Lord spoke to Ahaz:
11"Ask a sign of the Lord your God; let it be deep as Sheol or high as heaven."
12But Ahaz said, "I will not ask, and I will not put the Lord to the test."
