What does Isaiah 7:19 mean?
King Ahaz of Judah is learning the consequences of his rejection of the Lord. He planned to trust the king of Assyria to save him from his enemies (2 Kings 16:7–9). As it happens, that king is the one who will bring the greatest destruction on Judah (Isaiah 7:17).The invading arms are described as a swarm of insects, especially from Assyria. As with an infestation, they will cover the land, no crevice will be left untouched. Their presence in the land will be inescapable, their destruction catastrophic.
