Isaiah 5:25-26
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 5
25
For this reason the anger of the
Lord
has burned against His people,
And He has stretched out His hand against them and struck them.
And the mountains quaked, and their corpses lay like refuse in the middle of the streets.
Despite all this, His anger is not spent,
But His hand is still stretched out.
26
He will also lift up a flag to the distant nation,
And whistle for it from the ends of the earth;
And behold, it will come with speed swiftly.
King James Version
Chapter 5
25
Therefore is the anger of the
Lord
kindled against his people, and he hath stretched forth his hand against them, and hath smitten them: and the hills did tremble, and their carcases were torn in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
26
And he will lift up an ensign to the nations from far, and will hiss unto them from the end of the earth: and, behold, they shall come with speed swiftly:
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 5
25
Therefore the
Lord
’s anger burned against his people.
He raised his hand against them and struck them;
the mountains quaked,
and their corpses were like garbage in the streets.
In all this, his anger has not turned away,
and his hand is still raised to strike.
26
He raises a signal flag for the distant nations
and whistles for them from the ends of the earth.
Look—how quickly and swiftly they come!
New Living Translation
Chapter 5
25
That is why the
Lord
’s anger burns against his people,
and why he has raised his fist to crush them.
The mountains tremble,
and the corpses of his people litter the streets like garbage.
But even then the
Lord
’s anger is not satisfied.
His fist is still poised to strike!
26
He will send a signal to distant nations far away
and whistle to those at the ends of the earth.
They will come racing toward Jerusalem.
English Standard Version
Chapter 5
25
Therefore the anger of the
Lord
was kindled against his people,
and he stretched out his hand against them and struck them,
and the mountains quaked;
and their corpses were as refuse
in the midst of the streets.
For all this his anger has not turned away,
and his hand is stretched out still.
26
He will raise a signal for nations far away,
and whistle for them from the ends of the earth;
and behold, quickly, speedily they come!
New International Version
Chapter 5
25
Therefore the
Lord
’s anger burns against his people;
his hand is raised and he strikes them down.
The mountains shake,
and the dead bodies are like refuse in the streets. Yet for all this, his anger is not turned away,
his hand is still upraised.
26
He lifts up a banner for the distant nations,
he whistles for those at the ends of the earth.
Here they come,
swiftly and speedily!
New King James Version
Chapter 5
25
Therefore the anger of the
Lord
is aroused against His people;
He has stretched out His hand against them
And stricken them,
And the hills trembled.
Their carcasses
were
as refuse in the midst of the streets.
For all this His anger is not turned away,
But His hand
is
stretched out still.
26
He will lift up a banner to the nations from afar,
And will whistle to them from the end of the earth;
Surely they shall come with speed, swiftly.
