Isaiah 29:21-22
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 29
21
Who cause a person to be indicted by a word,
And set a trap for the arbitrator at the gate,
And defraud the one in the right with meaningless arguments.
22
Therefore this is what the
Lord
, who redeemed Abraham, says concerning the house of Jacob:
'Jacob will not be ashamed now, nor will his face turn pale now;
King James Version
Chapter 29
21
That make a man an offender for a word, and lay a snare for him that reproveth in the gate, and turn aside the just for a thing of nought.
22
Therefore thus saith the
Lord
, who redeemed Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob, Jacob shall not now be ashamed, neither shall his face now wax pale.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 29
21
those who, with their speech,
accuse a person of wrongdoing,
who set a trap for the one mediating at the city gate
and without cause deprive the righteous of justice.
22
Therefore, the
Lord
who redeemed Abraham says this about the house of Jacob:
Jacob will no longer be ashamed,
and his face will no longer be pale.
New Living Translation
Chapter 29
21
Those who convict the innocent
by their false testimony will disappear.
A similar fate awaits those who use trickery to pervert justice
and who tell lies to destroy the innocent.
22
That is why the
Lord
, who redeemed Abraham, says to the people of Israel,
'My people will no longer be ashamed
or turn pale with fear.
English Standard Version
Chapter 29
21
who by a word make a man out to be an offender,
and lay a snare for him who reproves in the gate,
and with an empty plea turn aside him who is in the right.
22
Therefore thus says the
Lord
, who redeemed Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob:
"Jacob shall no more be ashamed,
no more shall his face grow pale.
New International Version
Chapter 29
21
those who with a word make someone out to be guilty,
who ensnare the defender in court
and with false testimony deprive the innocent of justice.
22
Therefore this is what the
Lord
, who redeemed Abraham, says to the descendants of Jacob:
"No longer will Jacob be ashamed;
no longer will their faces grow pale.
New King James Version
Chapter 29
21
Who make a man an offender by a word,
And lay a snare for him who reproves in the gate,
And turn aside the just by empty words.
22
Therefore thus says the
Lord
, who redeemed Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob:
“Jacob shall not now be ashamed,
Nor shall his face now grow pale;
