2 Samuel 7:19-23
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 7
19
And yet this was insignificant in Your eyes, Lord
God
, for You have spoken also of the house of Your servant regarding the distant future. And this is the custom of mankind, Lord
God
.
20
Again what more can David say to You? For You know Your servant, Lord
God
!
21
For the sake of Your word, and according to Your heart, You have done all this greatness, to let Your servant know.
22
For this reason You are great, Lord
God
; for there is no one like You, and there is no God except You, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
23
And what one nation on the earth is like Your people Israel, whom God went to redeem for Himself as a people, and to make a name for Himself, and to do a great thing for You and awesome things for Your land, because of Your people whom You have redeemed for Yourself from Egypt,
from other
nations and their gods?
King James Version
Chapter 7
19
And this was yet a small thing in thy sight, O Lord
God
; but thou hast spoken also of thy servant's house for a great while to come. And is this the manner of man, O Lord
God
?
20
And what can David say more unto thee? for thou, Lord
God
, knowest thy servant.
21
For thy word's sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all these great things, to make thy servant know them.
22
Wherefore thou art great, O
Lord
God: for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
23
And what one nation in the earth is like thy people, even like Israel, whom God went to redeem for a people to himself, and to make him a name, and to do for you great things and terrible, for thy land, before thy people, which thou redeemedst to thee from Egypt, from the nations and their gods?
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 7
19
What you have done so far was a little thing to you, Lord
God
, for you have also spoken about your servant’s house in the distant future. And this is a revelation for mankind, Lord
God
.
20
What more can David say to you? You know your servant, Lord
God
.
21
Because of your word and according to your will, you have revealed all these great things to your servant.
22
This is why you are great, Lord
God
. There is no one like you, and there is no God besides you, as all we have heard confirms.
23
And who is like your people Israel? God came to one nation on earth in order to redeem a people for himself, to make a name for himself, and to perform for them great and awesome acts, driving out nations and their gods before your people you redeemed for yourself from Egypt.
New Living Translation
Chapter 7
19
And now, Sovereign
Lord
, in addition to everything else, you speak of giving your servant a lasting dynasty! Do you deal with everyone this way, O Sovereign
Lord
?
20
'What more can I say to you? You know what your servant is really like, Sovereign
Lord
.
21
Because of your promise and according to your will, you have done all these great things and have made them known to your servant.
22
'How great you are, O Sovereign
Lord
! There is no one like you. We have never even heard of another God like you!
23
What other nation on earth is like your people Israel? What other nation, O God, have you redeemed from slavery to be your own people? You made a great name for yourself when you redeemed your people from Egypt. You performed awesome miracles and drove out the nations and gods that stood in their way.
English Standard Version
Chapter 7
19
And yet this was a small thing in your eyes, O Lord
God
. You have spoken also of your servant 's house for a great while to come, and this is instruction for mankind, O Lord
God
!
20
And what more can David say to you? For you know your servant, O Lord
God
!
21
Because of your promise, and according to your own heart, you have brought about all this greatness, to make your servant know it.
22
Therefore you are great, O
Lord
God. For there is none like you, and there is no God besides you, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
23
And who is like your people Israel, the one nation on earth whom God went to redeem to be his people, making himself a name and doing for them great and awesome things by driving out before your people, whom you redeemed for yourself from Egypt, a nation and its gods?
New International Version
Chapter 7
19
And as if this were not enough in your sight, Sovereign
Lord
, you have also spoken about the future of the house of your servant—and this decree, Sovereign
Lord
, is for a mere human!
20
"What more can David say to you? For you know your servant, Sovereign
Lord
.
21
For the sake of your word and according to your will, you have done this great thing and made it known to your servant.
22
"How great you are, Sovereign
Lord
! There is no one like you, and there is no God but you, as we have heard with our own ears.
23
And who is like your people Israel—the one nation on earth that God went out to redeem as a people for himself, and to make a name for himself, and to perform great and awesome wonders by driving out nations and their gods from before your people, whom you redeemed from Egypt?
