2 Samuel 15:25-29
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 15
25
And the king said to Zadok, 'Return the ark of God to the city. If I find favor in the sight of the
Lord
, then He will bring me back and show me
both
it and His habitation.
26
But if He says this: ‘I have no delight in you,’
then
here I am, let Him do to me as seems good to Him.'
27
The king also said to Zadok the priest, 'Are you
not
a seer? Return to the city in peace, and your two sons with you, your son Ahimaaz and Jonathan the son of Abiathar.
28
See, I am going to wait at the river crossing places of the wilderness until word comes from you to inform me.'
29
So Zadok and Abiathar returned the ark of God to Jerusalem and remained there.
King James Version
Chapter 15
25
And the king said unto Zadok, Carry back the ark of God into the city: if I shall find favour in the eyes of the
Lord
, he will bring me again, and shew me both it, and his habitation:
26
But if he thus say, I have no delight in thee; behold, here am I, let him do to me as seemeth good unto him.
27
The king said also unto Zadok the priest, Art not thou a seer? return into the city in peace, and your two sons with you, Ahimaaz thy son, and Jonathan the son of Abiathar.
28
See, I will tarry in the plain of the wilderness, until there come word from you to certify me.
29
Zadok therefore and Abiathar carried the ark of God again to Jerusalem: and they tarried there.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 15
25
Then the king instructed Zadok, "Return the ark of God to the city. If I find favor with the
Lord
, he will bring me back and allow me to see both it and its dwelling place.
26
However, if he should say, ‘I do not delight in you,’ then here I am—he can do with me whatever pleases him."
27
The king also said to the priest Zadok, "Look, return to the city in peace and your two sons with you: your son Ahimaaz and Abiathar’s son Jonathan.
28
Remember, I’ll wait at the fords of the wilderness until word comes from you to inform me."
29
So Zadok and Abiathar returned the ark of God to Jerusalem and stayed there.
New Living Translation
Chapter 15
25
Then the king instructed Zadok to take the Ark of God back into the city. 'If the
Lord
sees fit,' David said, 'he will bring me back to see the Ark and the Tabernacle again.
26
But if he is through with me, then let him do what seems best to him.'
27
The king also told Zadok the priest, 'Look, here is my plan. You and Abiathar should return quietly to the city with your son Ahimaaz and Abiathar’s son Jonathan.
28
I will stop at the shallows of the Jordan River and wait there for a report from you.'
29
So Zadok and Abiathar took the Ark of God back to the city and stayed there.
English Standard Version
Chapter 15
25
Then the king said to Zadok, "Carry the ark of God back into the city. If I find favor in the eyes of the
Lord
, he will bring me back and let me see both it and his dwelling place.
26
But if he says, ‘I have no pleasure in you,’ behold, here I am, let him do to me what seems good to him."
27
The king also said to Zadok the priest, "Are you not a seer? Go back to the city in peace, with your two sons, Ahimaaz your son, and Jonathan the son of Abiathar.
28
See, I will wait at the fords of the wilderness until word comes from you to inform me."
29
So Zadok and Abiathar carried the ark of God back to Jerusalem, and they remained there.

25
Then the king said to Zadok, "Take the ark of God back into the city. If I find favor in the
Lord
’s eyes, he will bring me back and let me see it and his dwelling place again.
26
But if he says, ‘I am not pleased with you,’ then I am ready; let him do to me whatever seems good to him."
27
The king also said to Zadok the priest, "Do you understand? Go back to the city with my blessing. Take your son Ahimaaz with you, and also Abiathar’s son Jonathan. You and Abiathar return with your two sons.
28
I will wait at the fords in the wilderness until word comes from you to inform me."
29
So Zadok and Abiathar took the ark of God back to Jerusalem and stayed there.
