2 Samuel 11:2-6
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 11
2
Now at evening time David got up from his bed and walked around on the roof of the king’s house, and from the roof he saw a woman bathing; and the woman was very beautiful in appearance.
3
So David sent
servants
and inquired about the woman. And
someone
said, 'Is this not Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?'
4
Then David sent messengers and had her brought, and when she came to him, he slept with her; and when she had purified herself from her uncleanness, she returned to her house.
5
But the woman conceived; so she sent
word
and informed David, and said, 'I am pregnant.'
6
Then David sent
word
to Joab: 'Send me Uriah the Hittite.' So Joab sent Uriah to David.
King James Version
Chapter 11
2
And it came to pass in an eveningtide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king's house: and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon.
3
And David sent and enquired after the woman. And one said, Is not this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?
4
And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in unto him, and he lay with her; for she was purified from her uncleanness: and she returned unto her house.
5
And the woman conceived, and sent and told David, and said, I am with child.
6
And David sent to Joab, saying, Send me Uriah the Hittite. And Joab sent Uriah to David.

4
David sent messengers to get her, and when she came to him, he slept with her. Now she had just been purifying herself from her uncleanness. Afterward, she returned home.
5
The woman conceived and sent word to inform David: "I am pregnant."
6
David sent orders to Joab: "Send me Uriah the Hethite." So Joab sent Uriah to David.

3
He sent someone to find out who she was, and he was told, 'She is Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam and the wife of Uriah the Hittite.'
4
Then David sent messengers to get her; and when she came to the palace, he slept with her. She had just completed the purification rites after having her menstrual period. Then she returned home.
5
Later, when Bathsheba discovered that she was pregnant, she sent David a message, saying, 'I’m pregnant.'
6
Then David sent word to Joab: 'Send me Uriah the Hittite.' So Joab sent him to David.
