Chapter 5
30The Pharisees and their scribes began grumbling to His disciples, saying, 'Why do you eat and drink with the tax collectors and sinners?' 31And Jesus answered and said to them, 'It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick. 32I have not come to call the righteous to repentance, but sinners.'
33And they said to Him, 'The disciples of John often fast and offer prayers, the disciples of the Pharisees also do the same, but Yours eat and drink.'
34And Jesus said to them, 'You cannot make the attendants of the groom fast while the groom is with them, can you?
35But the days will come; and when the groom is taken away from them, then they will fast in those days.'
36And He was also telling them a parable: 'No one tears a piece of cloth from a new garment and puts it on an old garment; otherwise he will both tear the new, and the patch from the new garment will not match the old.

30But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners? 31And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick. 32I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. 33And they said unto him, Why do the disciples of John fast often, and make prayers, and likewise the disciples of the Pharisees; but thine eat and drink? 34And he said unto them, Can ye make the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? 35But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days. 36And he spake also a parable unto them; No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old; if otherwise, then both the new maketh a rent, and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old.Christian Standard Bible
31Jesus replied to them, "It is not those who are healthy who need a doctor, but those who are sick.
32I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."
New Living Translation
31Jesus answered them, 'Healthy people don’t need a doctor — sick people do.
32I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners and need to repent.'

36He also told them a parable: “No one tears a piece from a new garment and puts it on an old garment. If he does, he will tear the new, and the piece from the new will not match the old.
