Chapter 7

49But this crowd that does not know the Law is accursed!' 50Nicodemus (the one who came to Him before, being one of them) *said to them, 51Our Law does not judge the person unless it first hears from him and knows what he is doing, does it?' 52They answered and said to him, 'You are not from Galilee as well, are you? Examine the Scriptures, and see that no prophet arises out of Galilee.' 53[[ And everyone went to his home.

49But this people who knoweth not the law are cursed. 50Nicodemus saith unto them, (he that came to Jesus by night, being one of them,) 51Doth our law judge any man, before it hear him, and know what he doeth? 52They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search, and look: for out of Galilee ariseth no prophet.
53And every man went unto his own house.

49This foolish crowd follows him, but they are ignorant of the law. God’s curse is on them!'
50Then Nicodemus, the leader who had met with Jesus earlier, spoke up. 51Is it legal to convict a man before he is given a hearing?' he asked.
52They replied, 'Are you from Galilee, too? Search the Scriptures and see for yourself — no prophet ever comes from Galilee!'
53Then the meeting broke up, and everybody went home.
