Chapter 7

40Some of the people therefore, after they heard these words, were saying, 'This truly is the Prophet.' 41Others were saying, 'This is the Christ.' But others were saying, 'Surely the Christ is not coming from Galilee, is He? 42Has the Scripture not said that the Christ comes from the descendants of David, and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?' 43So a dissension occurred in the crowd because of Him.

40Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet. 41Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Shall Christ come out of Galilee? 42Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was? 43So there was a division among the people because of him.

But some said, "Surely the Messiah doesn’t come from Galilee, does he? 42Doesn’t the Scripture say that the Messiah comes from David’s offspring and from the town of Bethlehem, where David lived?" 43So the crowd was divided because of him.

Will the Messiah come from Galilee? 42For the Scriptures clearly state that the Messiah will be born of the royal line of David, in Bethlehem, the village where King David was born.' 43So the crowd was divided about him.
