Chapter 7

38The one who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘ From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’?' 39But this He said in reference to the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
40Some of the people therefore, after they heard these words, were saying, 'This truly is the Prophet.'

38He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. 39But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
40Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet.

For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’' 39(When he said 'living water,' he was speaking of the Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in him. 40When the crowds heard him say this, some of them declared, 'Surely this man is the Prophet we’ve been expecting.'
