John 6:54-61
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 6
54
The one who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.
55
For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink.
56
The one who eats My flesh and drinks My blood remains in Me, and I in him.
57
Just as the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, the one who eats Me, he also will live because of Me.
58
This is the bread that came down out of heaven, not as the fathers ate and died; the one who eats this bread will live forever.'
59
These things He said in the synagogue as He taught in Capernaum.
60
So then many of His disciples, when they heard
this,
said, 'This statement is
very
unpleasant; who can listen to it?'
61
But Jesus, aware that His disciples were complaining about this, said to them, 'Is this offensive to you?
King James Version
Chapter 6
54
Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.
55
For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
56
He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.
57
As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.
58
This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.
59
These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.
60
Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it?
61
When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 6
54
The one who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day,
55
because my flesh is true food and my blood is true drink.
56
The one who eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him.
57
Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me.
58
This is the bread that came down from heaven; it is not like the manna your ancestors ate—and they died. The one who eats this bread will live forever."
59
He said these things while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum.
60
Therefore, when many of his disciples heard this, they said, "This teaching is hard. Who can accept it?"
61
Jesus, knowing in himself that his disciples were complaining about this, asked them, "Does this offend you?
New Living Translation
Chapter 6
54
But anyone who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise that person at the last day.
55
For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.
56
Anyone who eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him.
57
I live because of the living Father who sent me; in the same way, anyone who feeds on me will live because of me.
58
I am the true bread that came down from heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will not die as your ancestors did (even though they ate the manna) but will live forever.'
59
He said these things while he was teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum.
60
Many of his disciples said, 'This is very hard to understand. How can anyone accept it?'
61
Jesus was aware that his disciples were complaining, so he said to them, 'Does this offend you?
English Standard Version
Chapter 6
54
Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.
55
For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.
56
Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him.
57
As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever feeds on me, he also will live because of me.
58
This is the bread that came down from heaven, not like the bread the fathers ate, and died. Whoever feeds on this bread will live forever."
