John 6:42-52
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 6
42
And they were saying, 'Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How does He now say, ‘I have come down out of heaven’?'
43
Jesus answered and said to them, 'Stop complaining among yourselves.
44
No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day.
45
It is written in the Prophets: ‘AND THEY SHALL ALL BE TAUGHT OF
God
.’ Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father, comes to Me.
46
Not that anyone has seen the Father, except the One who is from God; He has seen the Father.
47
Truly, truly, I say to you, the one who believes has eternal life.
48
I am the bread of life.
49
Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died.
50
This is the bread that comes down out of heaven, so that anyone may eat from it and not die.
51
I am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone eats from this bread, he will live forever; and the bread which I will give for the life of the world also is My flesh.'
52
Then the Jews
began
to argue with one another, saying, 'How can this man give us His flesh to eat?'
King James Version
Chapter 6
42
And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven
43
Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.
44
No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
45
It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.
46
Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.
47
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
48
I am that bread of life.
49
Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.
50
This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.
51
I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
52
The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?

Chapter 6
42
They were saying, "Isn’t this Jesus the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How can he now say, ‘I have come down from heaven’?"
43
Jesus answered them, "Stop complaining among yourselves.
44
No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up on the last day.
45
It is written in the Prophets:
And they will all be taught by God.
Everyone who has listened to and learned from the Father comes to me—
46
not that anyone has seen the Father except the one who is from God. He has seen the Father.
47
"Truly I tell you, anyone who believes has eternal life.
48
I am the bread of life.
49
Your ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died.
50
This is the bread that comes down from heaven so that anyone may eat of it and not die.
51
I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread he will live forever. The bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh."
52
At that, the Jews argued among themselves, "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?"
New Living Translation
Chapter 6
42
They said, 'Isn’t this Jesus, the son of Joseph? We know his father and mother. How can he say, ‘I came down from heaven’?'
43
But Jesus replied, 'Stop complaining about what I said.
44
For no one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them to me, and at the last day I will raise them up.
45
As it is written in the Scriptures, ‘They will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from him comes to me.
46
(Not that anyone has ever seen the Father; only I, who was sent from God, have seen him.)
47
I tell you the truth, anyone who believes has eternal life.
48
Yes, I am the bread of life!
49
Your ancestors ate manna in the wilderness, but they all died.
50
Anyone who eats the bread from heaven, however, will never die.
51
I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will live forever; and this bread, which I will offer so the world may live, is my flesh.'
52
Then the people began arguing with each other about what he meant. 'How can this man give us his flesh to eat?' they asked.
