John 16:1-9
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 16
1These things I have spoken to you so that you will not be led into sin. 2They will ban you from the synagogue, yet an hour is coming for everyone who kills you to think that he is offering a service to God. 3These things they will do because they have not known the Father nor Me. 4But these things I have spoken to you, so that when their hour comes, you may remember that I told you of them. However, I did not say these things to you at the beginning, because I was with you.
5But now I am going to Him who sent Me; and none of you asks Me, ‘Where are You going?’
6But because I have said these things to you, grief has filled your heart.
7But I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I am leaving; for if I do not leave, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you.
8And He, when He comes, will convict the world regarding sin, and righteousness, and judgment:
9regarding sin, because they do not believe in Me;
King James Version
Chapter 16
1These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended. 2They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service. 3And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me. 4But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you. 5But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou? 6But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart.
7Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
8And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
9Of sin, because they believe not on me;

Chapter 16
1"I have told you these things to keep you from stumbling. 2They will ban you from the synagogues. In fact, a time is coming when anyone who kills you will think he is offering service to God. 3They will do these things because they haven't known the Father or me. 4But I have told you these things so that when their time comes you will remember I told them to you. I didn't tell you these things from the beginning, because I was with you. 5But now I am going away to him who sent me, and not one of you asks me, 'Where are you going? ' 6Yet, because I have spoken these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart. 7Nevertheless, I am telling you the truth. It is for your benefit that I go away, because if I don't go away the Counselor will not come to you. If I go, I will send him to you. 8When he comes, he will convict the world about sin, righteousness, and judgment: 9About sin, because they do not believe in me;New Living Translation
Chapter 16
1I have told you these things so that you won’t abandon your faith. 2For you will be expelled from the synagogues, and the time is coming when those who kill you will think they are doing a holy service for God. 3This is because they have never known the Father or me. 4Yes, I’m telling you these things now, so that when they happen, you will remember my warning. I didn’t tell you earlier because I was going to be with you for a while longer.
5But now I am going away to the one who sent me, and not one of you is asking where I am going.
6Instead, you grieve because of what I’ve told you.
7But in fact, it is best for you that I go away, because if I don’t, the Advocate won’t come. If I do go away, then I will send him to you.
8And when he comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God’s righteousness, and of the coming judgment.
9The world’s sin is that it refuses to believe in me.

Chapter 16
1“I have said all these things to you to keep you from falling away. 2They will put you out of the synagogues.
