John 10:16-22
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 10
16
And I have other sheep that are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will listen to My voice; and they will become one flock,
with
one shepherd.
17
For this reason the Father loves Me, because I lay down My life so that I may take it back.
18
No one has taken it away from Me, but I lay it down on My own. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it back. This commandment I received from My Father.'
19
Dissension occurred again among the Jews because of these words.
20
Many of them were saying, 'He has a demon and is insane. Why do you listen to Him?'
21
Others were saying, 'These are not the words of one who is demon-possessed. A demon cannot open the eyes of those who are blind, can it?'
22
At that time the Feast of the Dedication took place in Jerusalem;
King James Version
Chapter 10
16
And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
17
Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
18
No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.
19
There was a division therefore again among the Jews for these sayings.
20
And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad; why hear ye him?
21
Others said, These are not the words of him that hath a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?
22
And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 10
16
But I have other sheep that are not from this sheep pen; I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. Then there will be one flock, one shepherd.
17
This is why the Father loves me, because I lay down my life so that I may take it up again.
18
No one takes it from me, but I lay it down on my own. I have the right to lay it down, and I have the right to take it up again. I have received this command from my Father."
19
Again the Jews were divided because of these words.
20
Many of them were saying, "He has a demon and he’s crazy. Why do you listen to him?"
21
Others were saying, "These aren’t the words of someone who is demon-possessed. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?"
22
Then the Festival of Dedication took place in Jerusalem, and it was winter.
New Living Translation
Chapter 10
16
I have other sheep, too, that are not in this sheepfold. I must bring them also. They will listen to my voice, and there will be one flock with one shepherd.
17
The Father loves me because I sacrifice my life so I may take it back again.
18
No one can take my life from me. I sacrifice it voluntarily. For I have the authority to lay it down when I want to and also to take it up again. For this is what my Father has commanded.'
19
When he said these things, the people were again divided in their opinions about him.
20
Some said, 'He’s demon possessed and out of his mind. Why listen to a man like that?'
21
Others said, 'This doesn’t sound like a man possessed by a demon! Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?'
22
It was now winter, and Jesus was in Jerusalem at the time of Hanukkah, the Festival of Dedication.
English Standard Version
Chapter 10
16
And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd.
17
For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it up again.
18
No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from my Father."
19
There was again a division among the Jews because of these words.
20
Many of them said, "He has a demon, and is insane; why listen to him?"
21
Others said, "These are not the words of one who is oppressed by a demon. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?"
22
At that time the Feast of Dedication took place at Jerusalem. It was winter,
New International Version
Chapter 10
16
I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.
17
The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life—only to take it up again.
18
No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father."
19
The Jews who heard these words were again divided.
20
Many of them said, "He is demon-possessed and raving mad. Why listen to him?"
21
But others said, "These are not the sayings of a man possessed by a demon. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?"
22
Then came the Festival of Dedication at Jerusalem. It was winter,
New King James Version
Chapter 10
16
And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock
and
one shepherd.
17
“Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again.
18
No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.”
19
Therefore there was a division again among the Jews because of these sayings.
20
And many of them said, “He has a demon and is mad. Why do you listen to Him?”
21
Others said, “These are not the words of one who has a demon. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?”
22
Now it was the Feast of Dedication in Jerusalem, and it was winter.
