Matthew 16:1-5
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 16
1The Pharisees and Sadducees came up, and putting Jesus to the test, they asked Him to show them a sign from heaven. 2But He replied to them, 'When it is evening, you say, ‘ It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.’ 3And in the morning, ‘ There will be a storm today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ You know how to discern the appearance of the sky, but are you unable to discern the signs of the times? 4An evil and adulterous generation wants a sign; and so a sign will not be given to it, except the sign of Jonah.' And He left them and went away.King James Version
Chapter 16
1The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven. 2He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red. 3And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times? 4A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 16
1The Pharisees and Sadducees approached, and tested him, asking him to show them a sign from heaven. 2He replied, "When evening comes you say, 'It will be good weather because the sky is red.' 3And in the morning, 'Today will be stormy because the sky is red and threatening.' You know how to read the appearance of the sky, but you can't read the signs of the times. 4An evil and adulterous generation demands a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah." Then he left them and went away.New Living Translation
2He replied, 'You know the saying, ‘Red sky at night means fair weather tomorrow;
3red sky in the morning means foul weather all day.’ You know how to interpret the weather signs in the sky, but you don’t know how to interpret the signs of the times!
4Only an evil, adulterous generation would demand a miraculous sign, but the only sign I will give them is the sign of the prophet Jonah. ' Then Jesus left them and went away.
