Matthew 16:8-13
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 16
8
But Jesus, aware
of this,
said, 'You men of little faith, why are you discussing among yourselves
the fact
that you have no bread?
9
Do you not yet understand nor remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets you picked up?
10
Nor the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many large baskets you picked up?
11
How
is it that
you do not understand that I did not speak to you about bread? But beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.'
12
Then they understood that He did not say to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
13
Now when Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He was asking His disciples, 'Who do people say that the Son of Man is?'
King James Version
Chapter 16
8
Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread
9
Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
10
Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
11
How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?
12
Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
13
When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 16
8
Aware of this, Jesus said, "You of little faith, why are you discussing among yourselves that you do not have bread?
9
Don’t you understand yet? Don’t you remember the five loaves for the five thousand and how many baskets you collected?
10
Or the seven loaves for the four thousand and how many large baskets you collected?
11
Why is it you don’t understand that when I told you, ‘Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees,’ it wasn’t about bread?"
12
Then they understood that he had not told them to beware of the leaven in bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
13
When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, "Who do people say that the Son of Man is?"
New Living Translation
Chapter 16
8
Jesus knew what they were saying, so he said, 'You have so little faith! Why are you arguing with each other about having no bread?
9
Don’t you understand even yet? Don’t you remember the 5,000 I fed with five loaves, and the baskets of leftovers you picked up?
10
Or the 4,000 I fed with seven loaves, and the large baskets of leftovers you picked up?
11
Why can’t you understand that I’m not talking about bread? So again I say, ‘Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.’'
12
Then at last they understood that he wasn’t speaking about the yeast in bread, but about the deceptive teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
13
When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, 'Who do people say that the Son of Man is?'
English Standard Version
Chapter 16
8
But Jesus, aware of this, said, "O you of little faith, why are you discussing among yourselves the fact that you have no bread?
9
Do you not yet perceive? Do you not remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many baskets you gathered?
10
Or the seven loaves for the four thousand, and how many baskets you gathered?
11
How is it that you fail to understand that I did not speak about bread? Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees."
12
Then they understood that he did not tell them to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
13
Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, "Who do people say that the Son of Man is?"
New International Version
Chapter 16
8
Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked, "You of little faith, why are you talking among yourselves about having no bread?
9
Do you still not understand? Don’t you remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many basketfuls you gathered?
10
Or the seven loaves for the four thousand, and how many basketfuls you gathered?
11
How is it you don’t understand that I was not talking to you about bread? But be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees."
12
Then they understood that he was not telling them to guard against the yeast used in bread, but against the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
13
When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, "Who do people say the Son of Man is?"
New King James Version
Chapter 16
8
But Jesus, being aware of
it,
said to them, “O you of little faith, why do you reason among yourselves because you have brought no bread?
9
Do you not yet understand, or remember the five loaves of the five thousand and how many baskets you took up?
10
Nor the seven loaves of the four thousand and how many large baskets you took up?
11
How is it you do not understand that I did not speak to you concerning bread?—
but
to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”
12
Then they understood that He did not tell
them
to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
13
When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?”
