Mark 14:3-10
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 14
3While He was in Bethany at the home of Simon the Leper, He was reclining at the table, and a woman came with an alabaster vial of very expensive perfume of pure nard. She broke the vial and poured the perfume over His head. 4But there were some indignantly remarking to one another, 'Why has this perfume been wasted? 5For this perfume could have been sold for over three hundred denarii, and the money given to the poor.' And they were scolding her. 6But Jesus said, 'Leave her alone! Why are you bothering her? She has done a good deed for Me. 7For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you want, you can do good to them; but you do not always have Me. 8She has done what she could; she has anointed My body beforehand for the burial. 9Truly I say to you, wherever the gospel is preached in the entire world, what this woman has done will also be told in memory of her.'King James Version
Chapter 14
3And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she broke the box, and poured it on his head. 4And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made? 5For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her. 6And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me. 7For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always. 8She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying. 9Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 14
3While he was in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper, as he was reclining at the table, a woman came with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume of pure nard. She broke the jar and poured it on his head. 4But some were expressing indignation to one another: "Why has this perfume been wasted? 5For this perfume might have been sold for more than three hundred denarii and given to the poor." And they began to scold her.
6Jesus replied, "Leave her alone. Why are you bothering her? She has done a noble thing for me.
7You always have the poor with you, and you can do what is good for them whenever you want, but you do not always have me.
8She has done what she could; she has anointed my body in advance for burial.
9Truly I tell you, wherever the gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her."
New Living Translation
4Some of those at the table were indignant. 'Why waste such expensive perfume?' they asked.
5It could have been sold for a year’s wages and the money given to the poor!' So they scolded her harshly.
6But Jesus replied, 'Leave her alone. Why criticize her for doing such a good thing to me?
7You will always have the poor among you, and you can help them whenever you want to. But you will not always have me.
8She has done what she could and has anointed my body for burial ahead of time.
9I tell you the truth, wherever the Good News is preached throughout the world, this woman’s deed will be remembered and discussed.'

She has done a beautiful thing to me. 7For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you want, you can do good for them. 7The poor you will always have with you, and you can help them any time you want. But you will not always have me.
8She did what she could. She poured perfume on my body beforehand to prepare for my burial.
9Truly I tell you, wherever the gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her."
