Now the Passover and
Festival of
Unleavened Bread were two days away; and the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to arrest Him covertly and kill
Him;

for they were saying, 'Not during the festival, otherwise there will be a riot of the people.'

the passover, and of unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put
him
to death.

But they said, Not on the feast

, lest there be an uproar of the people.

It was two days before the Passover and the Festival of Unleavened Bread. The chief priests and the scribes were looking for a cunning way to arrest Jesus and kill him.

"Not during the festival," they said, "so that there won't be a riot among the people."

It was now two days before Passover and the Festival of Unleavened Bread. The leading priests and the teachers of religious law were still looking for an opportunity to capture Jesus secretly and kill him.

But not during the Passover celebration,' they agreed, 'or the people may riot.'

It was now two days before the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread. And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to arrest him by stealth and kill him,

for they said, “Not during the feast, lest there be an uproar from the people.”
