Mark 14:32-41
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 14
32
They *came to a place named Gethsemane; and He *said to His disciples, 'Sit here until I have prayed.'
33
And He *took with Him Peter, James, and John, and began to be very distressed and troubled.
34
And He *said to them, 'My soul is deeply grieved, to the point of death; remain here and keep watch.'
35
And He went a little beyond
them,
and fell to the ground and
began
praying that if it were possible, the hour might pass Him by.
36
And He was saying, 'Abba! Father! All things are possible for You; remove this cup from Me; yet not what I will, but what You
will.
'
37
And He *came and *found them sleeping, and *said to Peter, 'Simon, are you asleep? Could you not keep watch for one hour?
38
Keep watching and praying, so that you will not come into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.'
39
And again He went away and prayed, saying the same words.
40
And again He came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy; and they did not know what to say in reply to Him.
41
And He *came the third time, and *said to them, 'Are you still sleeping and resting? That is enough. The hour has come; behold, the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners.
King James Version
Chapter 14
32
And they came to a place which was named Gethsemane: and he saith to his disciples, Sit ye here, while I shall pray.
33
And he taketh with him Peter and James and John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy;
34
And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch.
35
And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him.
36
And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.
37
And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou couldest not thou watch one hour
38
Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.
39
And again he went away, and prayed, and spake the same words.
40
And when he returned, he found them asleep again, (for their eyes were heavy,) neither wist they what to answer him.
41
And he cometh the third time, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: it is enough, the hour is come; behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

Chapter 14
32
Then they came to a place named Gethsemane, and he told his disciples, "Sit here while I pray."
33
He took Peter, James, and John with him, and he began to be deeply distressed and troubled.
34
He said to them, "I am deeply grieved to the point of death. Remain here and stay awake."
35
He went a little farther, fell to the ground, and prayed that if it were possible, the hour might pass from him.
36
And he said, "
Abba
, Father! All things are possible for you. Take this cup away from me. Nevertheless, not what I will, but what you will."
37
Then he came and found them sleeping. He said to Peter, "Simon, are you sleeping? Couldn’t you stay awake one hour?
38
Stay awake and pray so that you won’t enter into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."
39
Once again he went away and prayed, saying the same thing.
40
And again he came and found them sleeping, because they could not keep their eyes open. They did not know what to say to him.
41
Then he came a third time and said to them, "Are you still sleeping and resting? Enough! The time has come. See, the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
New Living Translation
Chapter 14
32
They went to the olive grove called Gethsemane, and Jesus said, 'Sit here while I go and pray.'
33
He took Peter, James, and John with him, and he became deeply troubled and distressed.
34
He told them, 'My soul is crushed with grief to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.'
35
He went on a little farther and fell to the ground. He prayed that, if it were possible, the awful hour awaiting him might pass him by.
36
Abba, Father,' he cried out, 'everything is possible for you. Please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.'
37
Then he returned and found the disciples asleep. He said to Peter, 'Simon, are you asleep? Couldn’t you watch with me even one hour?
38
Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak.'
39
Then Jesus left them again and prayed the same prayer as before.
40
When he returned to them again, he found them sleeping, for they couldn’t keep their eyes open. And they didn’t know what to say.
41
When he returned to them the third time, he said, 'Go ahead and sleep. Have your rest. But no — the time has come. The Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
