Chapter 24
31And then their eyes were opened and they recognized Him; and He vanished from their sight. 32They said to one another, 'Were our hearts not burning within us when He was speaking to us on the road, while He was explaining the Scriptures to us?' 33And they got up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together and those who were with them, 34saying, 'The Lord has really risen and has appeared to Simon!' 35They began to relate their experiences on the road, and how He was recognized by them at the breaking of the bread.
36Now while they were telling these things, Jesus Himself suddenly stood in their midst and *said to them, 'Peace be to you.'
37But they were startled and frightened, and thought that they were looking at a spirit.
38And He said to them, 'Why are you frightened, and why are doubts arising in your hearts?

31And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight. 32And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures? 33And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them, 34Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon. 35And they told what things were done in the way, and how he was known of them in breaking of bread.Christian Standard Bible

31Then their eyes were opened, and they recognized him, but he disappeared from their sight. 32They said to each other, "Weren't our hearts burning within us while he was talking with us on the road and explaining the Scriptures to us? " 33That very hour they got up and returned to Jerusalem. They found the Eleven and those with them gathered together, 34who said, "The Lord has truly been raised and has appeared to Simon! " 35Then they began to describe what had happened on the road and how he was made known to them in the breaking of the bread.New Living Translation

31Suddenly, their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. And at that moment he disappeared!
32They said to each other, 'Didn’t our hearts burn within us as he talked with us on the road and explained the Scriptures to us?'
33And within the hour they were on their way back to Jerusalem. There they found the eleven disciples and the others who had gathered with them,
34who said, 'The Lord has really risen! He appeared to Peter. '
35Then the two from Emmaus told their story of how Jesus had appeared to them as they were walking along the road, and how they had recognized him as he was breaking the bread.
36And just as they were telling about it, Jesus himself was suddenly standing there among them. 'Peace be with you,' he said.
37But the whole group was startled and frightened, thinking they were seeing a ghost!

33They got up and returned at once to Jerusalem. There they found the Eleven and those with them, assembled together
34and saying, 'It is true! The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon.'
35Then the two told what had happened on the way, and how Jesus was recognized by them when he broke the bread.
