Chapter 24
13And behold, on that very day two of them were going to a village named Emmaus, which was sixty stadia from Jerusalem. 14And they were talking with each other about all these things which had taken place. 15While they were talking and discussing, Jesus Himself approached and began traveling with them. 16But their eyes were kept from recognizing Him. 17And He said to them, 'What are these words that you are exchanging with one another as you are walking?' And they came to a stop, looking sad. 18One of them, named Cleopas, answered and said to Him, 'Are You possibly the only one living near Jerusalem who does not know about the things that happened here in these days?' 19And He said to them, 'What sort of things?' And they said to Him, 'Those about Jesus the Nazarene, who proved to be a prophet mighty in deed and word in the sight of God and all the people, 20and how the chief priests and our rulers handed Him over to be sentenced to death, and crucified Him. 21But we were hoping that it was He who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, it is now the third day since these things happened. 22But also some women among us left us bewildered. When they were at the tomb early in the morning, 23and did not find His body, they came, saying that they had also seen a vision of angels who said that He was alive. 24And so some of those who were with us went to the tomb, and found it just exactly as the women also had said; but Him they did not see.'King James Version

13And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs. 14And they talked together of all these things which had happened. 15And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them. 16But their eyes were holden that they should not know him. 17And he said unto them, What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad? 18And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him, Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things which are come to pass there in these days? 19And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people: 20And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and have crucified him. 21But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done. 22Yea, and certain women also of our company made us astonished, which were early at the sepulchre; 23And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive. 24And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulchre, and found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not.Christian Standard Bible

13Now that same day two of them were on their way to a village called Emmaus, which was about seven miles from Jerusalem. 14Together they were discussing everything that had taken place. 15And while they were discussing and arguing, Jesus himself came near and began to walk along with them. 16But they were prevented from recognizing him. 17Then he asked them, "What is this dispute that you're having with each other as you are walking? " And they stopped walking and looked discouraged.
19"What things? " he asked them.So they said to him, "The things concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a prophet powerful in action and speech before God and all the people,
20and how our chief priests and leaders handed him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified him.
21But we were hoping that he was the one who was about to redeem Israel. Besides all this, it's the third day since these things happened.
22Moreover, some women from our group astounded us. They arrived early at the tomb,
23and when they didn't find his body, they came and reported that they had seen a vision of angels who said he was alive.
24Some of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but they didn't see him."

13That same day two of Jesus’ followers were walking to the village of Emmaus, seven miles from Jerusalem. 14As they walked along they were talking about everything that had happened. 15As they talked and discussed these things, Jesus himself suddenly came and began walking with them. 16But God kept them from recognizing him.
17He asked them, 'What are you discussing so intently as you walk along?' They stopped short, sadness written across their faces.
18Then one of them, Cleopas, replied, 'You must be the only person in Jerusalem who hasn’t heard about all the things that have happened there the last few days.'
19What things?' Jesus asked. 'The things that happened to Jesus, the man from Nazareth,' they said. 'He was a prophet who did powerful miracles, and he was a mighty teacher in the eyes of God and all the people.
20But our leading priests and other religious leaders handed him over to be condemned to death, and they crucified him.
21We had hoped he was the Messiah who had come to rescue Israel. This all happened three days ago.
22Then some women from our group of his followers were at his tomb early this morning, and they came back with an amazing report.
23They said his body was missing, and they had seen angels who told them Jesus is alive!
24Some of our men ran out to see, and sure enough, his body was gone, just as the women had said.'

21But we were hoping that it was He who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, today is the third day since these things happened.
22Yes, and certain women of our company, who arrived at the tomb early, astonished us.
23When they did not find His body, they came saying that they had also seen a vision of angels who said He was alive.
