Chapter 24

33And they got up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together and those who were with them, 34saying, 'The Lord has really risen and has appeared to Simon!' 35They began to relate their experiences on the road, and how He was recognized by them at the breaking of the bread.
36Now while they were telling these things, Jesus Himself suddenly stood in their midst and *said to them, 'Peace be to you.' 37But they were startled and frightened, and thought that they were looking at a spirit. 38And He said to them, 'Why are you frightened, and why are doubts arising in your hearts?

33And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them, 34Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon.
35And they told what things were done in the way, and how he was known of them in breaking of bread.
36And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. 37But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. 38And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled and why do thoughts arise in your hearts

They found the Eleven and those with them gathered together, 34who said, "The Lord has truly been raised and has appeared to Simon!" 35Then they began to describe what had happened on the road and how he was made known to them in the breaking of the bread.
36As they were saying these things, he himself stood in their midst. He said to them, "Peace to you!" 37But they were startled and terrified and thought they were seeing a ghost. 38"Why are you troubled?" he asked them. "And why do doubts arise in your hearts?

33And within the hour they were on their way back to Jerusalem. There they found the eleven disciples and the others who had gathered with them, 34who said, 'The Lord has really risen! He appeared to Peter. '
35Then the two from Emmaus told their story of how Jesus had appeared to them as they were walking along the road, and how they had recognized him as he was breaking the bread. 36And just as they were telling about it, Jesus himself was suddenly standing there among them. 'Peace be with you,' he said. 37But the whole group was startled and frightened, thinking they were seeing a ghost!
38Why are you frightened?' he asked. 'Why are your hearts filled with doubt?
