Luke 24:18-25
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 24
18
One
of them,
named Cleopas, answered and said to Him, 'Are You
possibly
the only one living near Jerusalem who does not know about the things that happened here in these days?'
19
And He said to them, 'What sort of things?' And they said to Him, 'Those about Jesus the Nazarene, who proved to be a prophet mighty in deed and word in the sight of God and all the people,
20
and how the chief priests and our rulers handed Him over to be sentenced to death, and crucified Him.
21
But we were hoping that it was He who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, it is
now
the third day since these things happened.
22
But also some women among us left us bewildered. When they were at the tomb early in the morning,
23
and did not find His body, they came, saying that they had also seen a vision of angels who said that He was alive.
24
And
so
some of those who were with us went to the tomb, and found it just exactly as the women also had said; but Him they did not see.'
25
And
then
He said to them, 'You foolish men and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken!
King James Version
Chapter 24
18
And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him, Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things which are come to pass there in these days?
19
And he said unto them, What things And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people:
20
And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and have crucified him.
21
But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done.
22
Yea, and certain women also of our company made us astonished, which were early at the sepulchre;
23
And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive.
24
And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulchre, and found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not.
25
Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:

Chapter 24
18
The one named Cleopas answered him, "Are you the only visitor in Jerusalem who doesn’t know the things that happened there in these days?"
19
"What things?" he asked them. So they said to him, "The things concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a prophet powerful in action and speech before God and all the people,
20
and how our chief priests and leaders handed him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified him.
21
But we were hoping that he was the one who was about to redeem Israel. Besides all this, it’s the third day since these things happened.
22
Moreover, some women from our group astounded us. They arrived early at the tomb,
23
and when they didn’t find his body, they came and reported that they had seen a vision of angels who said he was alive.
24
Some of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but they didn’t see him."
25
He said to them, "How foolish and slow you are to believe all that the prophets have spoken!
New Living Translation
Chapter 24
18
Then one of them, Cleopas, replied, 'You must be the only person in Jerusalem who hasn’t heard about all the things that have happened there the last few days.'
19
What things?' Jesus asked. 'The things that happened to Jesus, the man from Nazareth,' they said. 'He was a prophet who did powerful miracles, and he was a mighty teacher in the eyes of God and all the people.
20
But our leading priests and other religious leaders handed him over to be condemned to death, and they crucified him.
21
We had hoped he was the Messiah who had come to rescue Israel. This all happened three days ago.
22
Then some women from our group of his followers were at his tomb early this morning, and they came back with an amazing report.
23
They said his body was missing, and they had seen angels who told them Jesus is alive!
24
Some of our men ran out to see, and sure enough, his body was gone, just as the women had said.'
25
Then Jesus said to them, 'You foolish people! You find it so hard to believe all that the prophets wrote in the Scriptures.
