Luke 22:25-43

Chapter 22
25And He said to them, 'The kings of the Gentiles domineer over them; and those who have authority over them are called ‘Benefactors.’ 26But it is not this way for you; rather, the one who is the greatest among you must become like the youngest, and the leader like the servant. 27For who is greater, the one who reclines at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at the table? But I am among you as the one who serves.
28You are the ones who have stood by Me in My trials;
29and just as My Father has granted Me a kingdom, I grant you
30that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and you will sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
31Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded to sift you men like wheat;
32but I have prayed for you, that your faith will not fail; and you, when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.'
33But he said to Him, 'Lord, I am ready to go with You both to prison and to death!'
34But He said, 'I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow today until you have denied three times that you know Me.'
35And He said to them, 'When I sent you out without money belt and bag and sandals, you did not lack anything, did you?' They said, 'No, nothing.'
36And He said to them, 'But now, whoever has a money belt is to take it along, likewise also a bag, and whoever has no sword is to sell his cloak and buy one.
37For I tell you that this which is written must be fulfilled in Me: ‘AND HE WAS COUNTED WITH WRONGDOERS’; for that which refers to Me has its fulfillment.'
38They said, 'Lord, look, here are two swords.' And He said to them, 'It is enough.'
39And He came out and went, as was His habit, to the Mount of Olives; and the disciples also followed Him.
40Now when He arrived at the place, He said to them, 'Pray that you do not come into temptation.'
41And He withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and began to pray,
42saying, 'Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done.'
43[ Now an angel from heaven appeared to Him, strengthening Him.

25And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors. 26But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve. 27For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth. 28Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations. 29And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me; 30That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
31And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:
32But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.
33And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death.
34And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.
36Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.
37For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.
38And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.
39And he came out, and went, as he was wont, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him.
40And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.
41And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed,
42saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.
43And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.

On the contrary, whoever is greatest among you should become like the youngest, and whoever leads, like the one serving. 27For who is greater, the one at the table or the one serving? Isn’t it the one at the table? But I am among you as the one who serves. 28You are those who stood by me in my trials. 29I bestow on you a kingdom, just as my Father bestowed one on me, 30so that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom. And you will sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
31"Simon, Simon, look out. Satan has asked to sift you like wheat.
32But I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And you, when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers."
36Then he said to them, "But now, whoever has a money-bag should take it, and also a traveling bag. And whoever doesn’t have a sword should sell his robe and buy one.
37For I tell you, what is written must be fulfilled in me: And he was counted among the lawless. Yes, what is written about me is coming to its fulfillment."
39He went out and made his way as usual to the Mount of Olives, and the disciples followed him.
40When he reached the place, he told them, "Pray that you may not fall into temptation."
41Then he withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, knelt down, and began to pray,
42"Father, if you are willing, take this cup away from me—nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done."

25Jesus told them, 'In this world the kings and great men lord it over their people, yet they are called ‘friends of the people.’ 26But among you it will be different. Those who are the greatest among you should take the lowest rank, and the leader should be like a servant. 27Who is more important, the one who sits at the table or the one who serves? The one who sits at the table, of course. But not here! For I am among you as one who serves.
28You have stayed with me in my time of trial.
29And just as my Father has granted me a Kingdom, I now grant you the right
30to eat and drink at my table in my Kingdom. And you will sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
31Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat.
32But I have pleaded in prayer for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail. So when you have repented and turned to me again, strengthen your brothers.'
36But now,' he said, 'take your money and a traveler’s bag. And if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one!
37For the time has come for this prophecy about me to be fulfilled: ‘He was counted among the rebels.’ Yes, everything written about me by the prophets will come true.'

37For I tell you that this Scripture must be fulfilled in me: ‘And he was numbered with the transgressors.’ For what is written about me has its fulfillment."
38And they said, "Look, Lord, here are two swords." And he said to them, "It is enough."
39And he came out and went, as was his custom, to the Mount of Olives, and the disciples followed him.
40And when he came to the place, he said to them, "Pray that you may not enter into temptation."
41And he withdrew from them about a stone 's throw, and knelt down and prayed,
42saying, "Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done."
